Hey guys, this is a video that’s already been published but just wanted to publish a version of this that wasn’t r18 and with no ads so you can actually see it! Enjoy!

Something so deeply tragic about her arc. Men break women, use them, hate them, and just discard them. No woman who tries to appease them will ever 'win'. Ever.

She never became cassie she was always cassie. She just embraced it a little more

0:14 omg im laughing my ass offff😭😭😭

she went naked for a gambling ad. yeah, she's maga and she's broke. I was surprised that she never took any luxury brand partnerships, like zendaya. like d&g or versace would have taken her pretty easily. but even they understand that to have such a partnership, you have to build relationships with your ambassador. and she couldn't wait for it, she needed that check. objectivisation was an easy way for her. but you're right that she's a student, not a victim like megan and brooke. she knows what she's doing. also, margot robbie did her production studio with her now-husband, who is a producer. they both had, and still have a vision of what they want to create (however, wuthering heights was a miss, but the visuals were there anyway). sidney is dating scooter braun, he is her manager now. like it tell you a lot what kind of person she is and what kind of content she's willing to produce. she has a few years, and soon we will see her on "I was objectified and now hollywood threw me to the trash" tour.

She wasn't acting when she was playing cassie😂

There was an infantalization of Sydney that happened years ago and it always rubbed me in the wrong way. She’s a grown adult aware of her choices to monetize sexualization. It sucks that she is going down that route, and misogynistic culture paved that path. But she’s aware and she’s actively choosing that path for herself for sure. Megan fox is an example that you can fight back against it, and megan eventually won that war now that people are finally recognizing they were unfair to her.

This is so interesting! The acting roles really shape the image. Christina Hendricks is another absolute redhead bombshell but her role as Joan Holloway felt like a journey to see her character as more than sex symbol.

I feel like Sydney’s is sort of like the inverse of Lena Dunham. Both of them have had their public perception shaped by the characters they played.

I have a distaste in my mouth when i see sydney sweeney

you are so articulate and so nuanced in your takes on sydney and the system that created her. i’m so glad i discovered you!!

This is original version of this video - no ad! I've been trying to think of what I can post here to give you guys something! And I think I might start posting things like original edits, and all the stuff that doesn't make it into the final video!

She has said she knows she’s on a time crunch and is capitalizing on the money and opportunities. So she is aware of this limitation to contorting herself for the male gaze. At the same time though she chooses a lot of indie roles so most people don’t know her for her acting. And tbh I think it’s affected her acting. I feel like her most recent characters were pretty “Cassie” in how they behaved and came across, at least to me. And I feel like acting is where her real passion is and so she’s really working against herself. I’ve always loved Megan Fox, especially when she spoke up and demanded more and got fired from Transformers (which she was carrying on her back). I can’t give Sidney Sweeney the same grace especially as the industry is much different now and she is not some fresh faced 18 year old

I'm glad there's someone who also sees the tragedy in her. I don't agree with her choices (they're so bad) but I can't help but feel sad for her. Why she can't see this 😢

she fell on the big old trap of thinking she can empower herself by playing along with the system... nah, girl, that's how you end up being chewed up and spat out with nowhere to go

I have a déjà vu.

There’s something so increasingly uncanny to me about Sydney Sweeney.  As a guy, I feel kinda wary about the whole discourse around her, since I think it’s an easy excuse that a lot of people have leaped on as a means of indulging in their desire to mercilessly critique and demean women in general.

But like…it can’t be helped that her whole persona is weird and offputting and absolutely warrants that criticism.  It’s a slightly tamer version of what I and other people have with that “goth” girl Drake hangs out with- it’s almost like an Uncanny Valley where the sheer, naked artifice and desperation for approval from the Male Gaze tips over into being outright unattractive and pitiful.

I believe on some level that Sweeney’s shown she’s an actress with talent.  That talent might lie within a narrow scope, but there’s plenty of actors for whom that’s true.  It’s just so odd and strange and sad to see someone in the industry basically embrace being a Fetish Object for clout.
Where’s the self-respect?

amazing commentary. one can tell you put a lot of effort in your videos.

I love your videos so much ❤ I feel like the reason Sydney got success instead of Alexa is, Sydney is for the male gaze and Alexa is for the women. And in a male controlled industry.. the odds were always on Sydney's side. However, the thing about catering to the male gaze is.. at the end of the day, you'll always be just a woman. There's a ceiling for how far the gaze can take you.. and in the end, men only care and respect other men.

Didn’t Sam Levinson say that he wrote some bits of Sydney into Cassie? Also, other actors on that show have had a hand in their character writing. Like hunter schafer for Jules in s1 and especially for Jules’ special episode. When actors have a hand in character writing their personalities can bleed into the character a bit.

hii, im new here! loved the video, i got to know your channel from the doechii video in a research i was doing to make a video on how the male gaze shapes women in and outside the industry for a collage essay. i fell in love instantly with your channel, it inpires me a lot, specially that you have more of a filmesque style of recording your videos which is really different from these types of video essays and it made me think that im able to do it too.

as of sydney, well... thats a hell of a case. i've also done my deep dive on her scandals for my video as well and the conclusion i got is that maybe she didn't necessarily want to appeal mainly to the maga audience in the first place, but she did choose to go in that direction bc she saw a quick profit out of it. what she didn't expect was that leaning exclusively into a male audience that's just there for her looks wasn't gonna be a lifelong support for her career, and mixing what you and what i also said, this audience don't care about supporting neither art or merely a woman in control of her own career. of course her movie Christie would flop!! like come on, have we not seen this before in other ways??
the sad part is that she once was really just a young actress trying to make her way up without needing to do couch tests or anything, but this route was not it. she didn't create the system, but she chose to navigate it this way. and as soon as she saw that people wouldn't ignore it, that she wouldn't do facist propaganda without the midia noticing, she went all out, and it didn't go well. i honestly think things started to go off the rail when she did the bathwater commercial.
anyway, i really hope to see you grow and get the praise you deserve bc i know how hard it is to put up a video like this! keep doing it queen!
