15:11 I need Hollywood to stop this "the audience is stupid and looking at their phones" thing. It is insulting, frankly, and it is ruining everything.

I've been waiting for this!
For me, this is far from being a forgettable movie! I wouldn't say it's my favourite, but I would rank it high.
The voice-stealing demon of generational trauma is something I could write an essay of my own

16:45 No, as someone deeply mentally and physically abused and bullied by a parent growing up, I totally understand her beating on him. I think thus far in the film, a lot of abuse has been coming back to her, and just seeing him in front of her would be enough to set her off.

The things I remembered from this movie:
1) The demon had key fingers and stuck them into someone's neck.
2) The assault/torture of multiple young women and girls, but not any specifics
2) being weirded out by the romance with Specs and the girl who seemed too young for him, especially knowing he wrote that in himself.

I had a vague recollection that there was a past and present timeline, but didn't even remember that it was Elise's past or that the girls were her neices and she had an estranged brother.

You know what this movie should have been, in order to avoid re-treading Elise's character arc? An exploration of Tucker and Specs's backstories instead.

Interestingly - I didn't see the scared coming from the suitcase. Honestly because I thought that was just as obvious a misdirect as looking over the top of the cases. I thought it was going to come from behind her. We were over her right shoulder as the camera. I expected it to burst in on the left of shot.

Okay how did I not know this one existed 💀

Edit: oh man there’s so many cool elements here like the woman not actually being a demon or spirit!

All I remember from this one is the girl in the basement. It's the kind of thing that sticks with you as a (at the time) 21yo woman.

Not only is he wearing a RUSH shirt, but its of their best album too! (Yes, better than even 2112) giving this vid max hype just for the shirt!

True story: when I first watched the last key, I watched it again the next day, because i literaly forgot the entire plot by then.

what i never understood regarding the "lipstick face demon", was how it made it to production and remained throughout the franchise without anyone ever mentioning; "is anyone going to tell the creature designer that our main demon is basically just Darth Maul? have they never seen Star Wars or something...are we sure we don't want to rethink that, even a little..."

The alternate ending was way better. I still dont know why the used the inferior one. And to be frank, yes its the worst of the first 4... but the movie is way better than the trainwreck that was The red door.

Given what we know about INSIDIOUS 3 and INSIDIOUS: THE LAST KEY, I think it would've been better to just combine the story of 3 with the ending of The Last Key with Elise getting the phone call to help the Lambert family. Maybe even include the key demon and Elise's backstory in some subtle way as window dressing, sprinkled into the main story of 3.

SCP-555: The Memory-Wiping Movie

My mental health has been so bad recently and your videos have become a real comfort to me when I can't sleep. I love them ! Can't wait to see what is next 😊

That's a funny way of spelling the Red Door. That movie proved that Insidious cannot work without Elise

From my PoV, I like it being a bit more stand alone. Everything relating to the original haunting makes the films feel a little, to steal a term from game design, parasitic. It makes them all depend on each other, an there's only so much you can add to that through line.

But what they had here - they've given themselves new meat to build on. I agree about the cartoonishness, but considering that the Red Door was supposed to be the end of Dalton's story (at least I think/hope it is), having new meat to pick up on for Out of the Further (even if I can't quite figure out where in the timeline that will sit) is a positive for me.

This is the first Insidious I saw in theatres.

I agree that it isn't as good as the previous ones, but this whole franchise will always be important for my love of horror. So good to see analysis on it! :)

I'm curious about the new one coming out soon!

Just wanna say I love this channel. I always look forward to any new content

Bro, love the shirt. I was row 6 on the floor, dead center in 2011 right after I got back from Afghanistan. I will see both of their Charlotte NC shows in November!

Also, great video, as always.
