What’s your favorite timeline in the Halloween franchise? 🎃

The Halloween Thorn trilogy is a AMC fear fest classics , I remember coming home from school in October watching Halloween 4 ,5 and 6 , it is a Halloween tradition for me every year it’s probably why this trilogy is close to my heart because I grew up watching it every year for Halloween 🎃

I’ve actually started looking at Halloween II and the later Thorn storyline a bit differently, and I think there’s a version of it that keeps Michael Myers consistent without “ruining” him.
First, about Halloween II:
I don’t think the sibling reveal automatically destroys Michael as a character. Even with Laurie being his sister, Michael in Halloween II still doesn’t behave like a human being with emotion or revenge. He doesn’t act like he’s angry or emotionally driven — he still feels completely detached, almost mechanical. So even if there is a “target,” it doesn’t necessarily become a human motive in the normal sense.
Now, when it comes to the Curse of Thorn timeline (Halloween 4–6), I think there’s an alternative way to interpret it that actually works better than the usual explanation.
Instead of the Cult of Thorn creating or controlling Michael, or Michael being a “chosen vessel,” you could reinterpret the cult as a group of fanatics who discovered something they don’t understand. They try to build a mythology around Michael and label it “Thorn,” but they are not the source of his evil — they’re just interpreting it through their own beliefs.
In this version:
Michael is still the original “Shape” from 1978; his behavior remains emotionally unreadable and inhuman; any focus on family (Laurie, Jamie, etc.) is not human motivation, but something more like an instinct or pattern we can’t fully understand; the cult doesn’t explain Michael — they misinterpret him.
This way, Michael still isn’t reduced to a normal killer with psychology or a puppet under supernatural control. He remains something closer to a force of nature: consistent in behavior, but never truly understandable in human terms.
So instead of the Thorn timeline “explaining” Michael, it just becomes people trying (and failing) to explain something that was never human to begin with. That, to me, actually preserves the idea of Michael as the original “pure evil” Shape rather than weakening it.

Just my own idea of how the whole Curse of Thorn storyline starting from Halloween II could’ve been “fixed” or reinterpreted while still keeping Michael Myers as the original Shape intact.

I love how the theatrical cut of H6 shows Michael Myers bleeding gallons of green goo all over his face then it cuts to a completely clean mask on the ground. 👏👏👏🎬 Bravo Joe Chapelle, Great job.😅🤣😂

If they were smart, they'd remake the Thorn Trilogy in its own series away from Michael and the Lourie Strode series.

Thanks for a fun video.

41:56 I imagine one hears that a lot in Hollywood after the drinks start flowing. I am laughing. What a trainwreck.

The opening credits of 4 is one of the greatest horror openings of all time

Tina only suffered a stab to the shoulder and can be seen being put in to an ambulance, avid Tina appreciator here

I don't know why so many people have trouble with this... Tommy says in the movie that the baby is supposed to be Michaels final sacrifice... And Danny is hearing voices  just like Michael did and is drawing pictures of hurting is family... Danny is supposed to replace Michael after Michael closes out his bloodline ...aka the baby.

Killing Rachel was A fucking mistake of enormous proportions

I’m actually surprised that people don’t realise that wynn (as in dr wynn) is also the name of a rune, looks a lot like Thorne except the spike on wynn appears toward the top

Also, Loomis referred to Michael as it in the beginning of the first movie, also, to Nurse Chambers. She says," Don't you thi k we could refer to it as 'him'?" Loomis:"Just dont forget what he really is." Chambers:" And what is that?" Loomis:" Evil"

I can see your point of view in regards to the iconic themes usage there, but when Michael is falling over in the films that is some of my favorite moments ngl. Especially when the actor portrays a very stiff and almost robotic demeanor. Because he is the shape, HE IS NOT HUMAN! Lmaoo, he doesn't know how to human properly. Leading to funny moments of him falling or getting back up unnaturally.

I always assumed the Curse of Thorn solely passed on the Y gene so it can only go from Myers male to Myers male. Judith, Laurie, and Jamie couldn’t end it so the cult needed to step in and ensure via genetic modification that there would be a final Myers boy so the curse could pass onto Danny. Since the Strodes chose Laurie, they unwittingly chose to be the next hosts to the curse. Who knows, though, I feel like I’ve put more thought into it than the makers did.

Edit: I can’t also be the only person who thinks Dominique Othenin-Girard was chosen because Debra Hill wanted the series D E A D and figured his avant-garde ways would do the trick.

About what you said towards the end about how it always needs to scrap things and go back to basics. I think thats a very GOOD thing honestly. If you love the thorn direction, you have that. If you love the h20 timeline, you have that. If you love the blumhouse timeline, thats here too. Its a bad thing in terms of "you messed it up at the end so bad that you had to do this" but its a good thing in terms of you just have so many OPTIONS. Whichever version of michael and his story anyone prefers they can go ahead and watch and ignore the rest. I wish MORE things would go that route instead of thinking you always need to be moving forward and building off whats there already. Like screw it, if you wanna erase everything and sequel directly off of the first movie ignoring every other thing, thats awesome. It makes what they do with the new thing alot less bogged down by the series messy history. When it gets practically straight up incompetent like this thorn timeline was i think its objectively the right move to just go backwards and make a new timeline. And halloween does this to perfection by not just remaking, but more often choosing a point in the story to start at and making a brand new timeline off of that point rather than remaking anything. We got options and thats a GOOD thing. Cause for stuff like friday the 13th or nightmare on elm street they just kinda move forward endlessly while maintaining every questionable decision they ever made as canon things. Halloween is something where its like just choose your preferred canon cause you have so many different directions that they have gone.

49:40 wouldn’t be an issue if that was Michael’s consistent reaction but it’s exclusively during these call back moments which yes absolutely does make it seem out of place

Gotta love that Halloween 4 is forever lumped under the moniker of the "Thorn Trilogy" despite only Halloween 6 actually having the thorn involved in its story.

Great video! I love the Thorn Trilogy and all of it's nonsense! I prefer the producer's cut of H6 but do like both versions quite a bit. Happy Halloween season 🎃

Halloween 5 sounds like The Last Jedi

My new Halloween 5 headcanon is that the hermit was a secret member of Thorn and did all that magic stuff with the tattoo to Michael offscreen
