I love when Sasha runs off to the woods. She kinda realizes like "oh they respect women in those woods? Fuck this shit I'm on the way"

Team Practical Effects and Team VFX need to unite and join forces against the true enemy, Team AI.

She is shunned for being barren yet there are no children in the village 🤔

When the Witte Wieven is pushing on the ground, it looks sort of like CPR, or when a nurse is pushing on the stomach after birth to make sure everything's expelled. It's such a cool effect!

Frieda, Sasha, & other women chose the bear... & the "bear" turned out to be pure female power, support, & unconditional love- weak men's biggest fears.

the aspect of the fae/spirits not being openly hostile but still seeming slightly untrustworthy is one of my favourite aspects of folklore that i dont thinkmis represented enough. They might help you and show you care, but they shouldn't be underestimated, or even fully trusted. Also i love the design of the Black Weif and i think we really need more of that earthy, tree-like, forest fae look in folkhorror👍

One of the best things about your videos, is your ability to get excited about the films you cover. I live that even if you don't like the movie overall, you always find some nuggets that is positive.

In an era of bragging about new uses for genAI and CGI, it gives me so much joy to see directors so proud to say that something in their work was all practical effect. And explain it as their kind of "show your work" to verify that it was practical! It's just fun to see that kind of raw ingenuity expressed in this particular art form. Practical vs. CGI in film is kind of like digital 2D art vs. traditional, tactile 2D art to me. Of course I think digital 2D art is cool, but you can ctrl+z, you can use all kinds of snazzy brushes and plugins, etc. In general, you can have so much more control than in traditional. That's how I feel about CGI. Very impressive, but I don't understand enough about what's going on "under the hood" to feel any sort of artistic connection to it.

The term you're looking for is "eviscerate."  Also, you do you and rock in your chair.

I played the dark wief in this. (Thank you for the compliments❤ and for naming me, most people will never recognize me without my name) Fun fact i insisted on also playing an extra in the village just to get my face on screen😅 i thought i would be cool to have the monster also be amongst the villagers. You can see me in this shot in the back left😁 21:15

Aced that "Witte Wieven" pronounciation, my guy! As a Dutch person, I always am so surprised when Dutch things come up in places I don't expect them. So glad you enjoyed the movie! Witte wieven are such awesome concepts and I love it when people talk about them <3

"There are only two things I can't stand in this world: People who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch." quote Nigel Powers 😆

The womb moon scene feels like something out of a fromsoft game

Always put more trust in nature and the wise ones over people with crosses.

OMGGG i actually watched this the day it came out. I was soooo shocked by its efficacy with how short it was. Genuinely AWESOME film!!!!

Me, being Dutch: there is Dutch folk horror movie?

Heresy is SO GOOD. Like it's wild that it's only an hour long and yet doesn't feel rushed.

"I need to rock, man" I felt that deep in my soul, my friend. I'm rocking as I watch.

20:45 its so refreshing seeing someone else with this problem, all my life ive been someone who rocks back and forth genuinely so happy to hear this even if its such a minor thing out of the whole video

There's a cool message here about how the solar, Christian cult - one supposedly born of love and forgiveness- shuns and ostracizes the lunar,  more pagan and natural cult as evil. And whereas the Christans depicted here operate essentially out of fear, Frieda is empowered by accepting the guidance and help of the white woman. Also, occulty speaking, solar aspects generally refer more to individualized, egocentric personality and lunar aspects reflect more of a subconscious element. Not sure how or if that plays a role here, and it's a cool detail to explore on further viewings.
