A NEW HAND TOUCHES THE WINDBAG!

@MrSmile078 3 days ago (edited)

Fun fact: For the release of the final saga (the album was released in segments called sagas), the creator and the crew flew to present-day Ithaca, but they ran into problems because a BIG STORM hit the area and delayed everything. So you could say Poseidon is probably still pissed about what happened in the Odyssey.

Epic the musical is getting a full 2d animated movie by the director of pirates of the Caribbean and top gun and Jorge the guy who made all of this is still majorly involved in the project

@poxrael 3 days ago

Fun fact: every monster (polyphemus, scylla, charibdus) in the musical has a track named after them, in fact they are the only ones who have self named tracks. Notice that the crash out track is named "Odysseus". This is to signify that in this song, he has become the monster.

Fun fact:
Everyone has their own instrument. For example Odysseus is the guitar, changes to electric guitar when he's cunning, tactical or ruthless. Athena's is the piano, Poseidon has the trumpet, Eurylochus has the crew and Penelope has the viola.

In Ruthlessness, Poseidon says "43 left under your command" and further on in The Underworld, it says "558 men". Where did one go? It's actually a sneaky secret reference to Elpenor, who died on Circe's island by getting drunk and falling off the roof of her palace!

Cute thing: Gigi, the animator for most of those, she did the Horse and the infant, just a man, and also her Circe in puppetter is consider almost the "canon" design for Circe because its the one cosplays use as reference, is brazilian like me, we are so proud of her

Odysseus: explaining all the horrible things he did to get home
Penelope (the spartan princess): JOKES ON YOU BUCKO IM INTO THAT

@EcoUnlogical-c5g4p 3 days ago

Fun fact, Jorge not only the songwriter and composer, is also the voice of Odysseus. And the voice of Circe and Jorge also got together durring production of the musical!

@Lightmaster677 3 days ago

Fun fact: After act 1 was done with the underworld saga and Monster, Jorge started doing streams to show off each new saga by playing all the songs in order until it gets to the newest ones. For the Wisdom Saga, there was a moment where the stream straight up broke, leaving a black screen and the entire chat screaming "Captain! Captain!"

6:18 "No one's mentally prepared for that"
Ant and Alicia on Jojos: "Okay, hear me out. Yeet the baby"

"I'm not gonna be teary twice in one video."

[The ever gorgeous double whammy of "I Can't Help but Wonder" and "Would You Fall In Love with Me Again"]; "Allow us to introduce ourselves."

The roughest part about Ody meeting his mother was Jorge (the creator of the musical) was the voice of Odysseus and his mother voiced Odysseus mother and knew that it would likely be something he'd hear forever after her passing. She had to do more than a few takes because she kept bursting into tears.

Edit: Oh my dumbass forgot the codeword.

It's really neat that the gods all can manifest a spectral chorus, whereas every mortal character physically has to have other mortals do backing vocals. It's just another way the gods are set up as "divine" down to the very singing.

Also, a majority of these are all done by different animators and it was really cool to see them get offical recognition as the creator of the musical commissioned them in the later sagas for the primeirs!

FULL SPEED AHEAD!
Edit: my fun fact for you: Hephaestus, god of craftsmanship, is voiced by the creator Jorge's father, who built the recording booth used for these songs. man earned that role.

@Stotty27 3 days ago

When writing, Jorge had initially misunderstood the term 'floating island' to mean floating in the sky instead of on the sea. By the time he realised it was too late to change (plus he thought it would be funny to keep it) so thats how we get the island in the sky!

@agileskaladin6674 3 days ago

1:42:26 this is actually the act one closer, so after this is where intermission would be. That's why you were getting bonked, you were off by one song.

@DainnGreywall 3 days ago

34:30 the original tale uses the word "Oûtis" which does indeed mean nobody/no one, however the trick of it is that Outis spoken aloud can also sound like an actual name, so when Cyclops goes "μή τίς με κτείνει δόλῳ…" aka "No one is killing me by trickery!" which has the same meaning as the word "Oûtis"

basically in the cyclops response "μή τις" has the same meaning as Οὖτις (Oûtis) given by Odysseus, just given different grammatical rules. It's very hard to explain but it is very clever wordplay in the original greek.

@Nazo-kage 3 days ago

Here’s a detail you might find hilarious.

The artist that goes by “Troy” is the guy who played Hermes.

He liked the character Hermes so much that it is basically a persona for him when he goes on tour

Alicia is so right about the hubris of Odysseus on his wit. From the very start of the journey Eurylochus tells him, they have no food and need provisions for the journey, and he is like "Nah, let's set sail, we'll hunt on the way!" And that is the only reason they encountered the cyclops, food. Then Athena tells him to finish the job with the cyclops, and not only does he not do that, he also doxxes himself to Poseidon's son getting big daddy mad and causing the 10+ years storm that won't let them near Ithaca.
