Lol they weren't paid SHIT, all of these were fan made out of love and that makes it so insane.

Idk if someone already mentioned but epic is currently in production for an animated movie! And if I’m not mistaken the animations in this video were done by fans:)

32:35 it because most of the animations was a fanmade, not actual being paid for..

the animatics are fanmade they werent paid, people made them on their free time at their houses the actual musical is just the songs on Jorge's channel though in act 2 mostly, he did recruit some of the people who had made animatics for fun previously to make some for the premiere of each saga when they happened but from wisdom saga and after i think

YouTube cannot keep doing this to me, I see a new reaction to EPIC and I feel compelled to watch.

48:09 because in Ancient Greek, maiming/mutilating someone was considered more disrespectful and cruel than actually killing them because they were left defenceless and vulnerable but still alive. And also, Poseidon has many Cyclopes sons so it's not a matter of he really cares about Polyphemus specifically, it's the pride of a god gotten injured when a mortal has wronged one of his offsprings cruelly and lives to brag about it.

Jorge did also make it clear to not use Epic as a reference for what actually happens in the Odyssey, as he takes a lot of creative liberties (if that wasn't obvious by now)
Love your reaction!

Don't worry they're already cooking an official full animated movie, also Jorge it's currently working on the Iliad musical as well, we're eating good in the future 😬

2:50 technically they did not break Zeus’ law (Xenia) but there are a lot of debates about this. Traditionally, the abduction of Helen is what’s seen as the actual violation of Xenia which leads to the war

1:08:27 you know what makes it better? (Or worse) the one singing was the writer's (and voice of Odysseus') real life mother. She was literally singing to her son in both character and life

They are called "Animatics" not animations. Animatics are similar to flipping a comic books pages really fast.

Two little "fun" facts: Odys mom died of a broken heart, because the wind bag was open right before reaching Ithaca and she thought that she saw her son die right in front of her. And she was sung by Jorge Rivera-Herrans own mom

the video you watched was just fan animatics put together into one! animatics being a rough draft before actual animation for directing and visuals. there is currently an animated movie based upon epic the musical in development, the news is very recent!

2:50 no, that wasnt an issue for Odysseus in Troy, they were there to destroy the city, not as guests

All roads lead to Epic

Maybe you want some surrounding details: Jorge Rivera Herrans is the creator of this musical and he is also the one who voices and sings Odysseus. He started writing Epic for a college thesis, I believe, and was very passionate about it, so he started posting about his creative process online; sharing plot ideas, little snippets, themes, recurring leitmotives, instrumentals etc. The channel quickly started gaining a lot of traction, mostly on tiktok I think. A lot of talented artists were really inspired by the music so they started doing these fanmade animatics. An animatic has, like you said, more of storyboard character. Its a step towards a real animation and serves the purpose of roughly and simply fleshing out certain concepts visually, in order to then turn them into an animation later. Jorge really loves the fandom, encouraged reactions and sometimes shared ideas for animatics, after seeing all the fanmade ones. The attention also allowed Jorge to cast all the amazing singers you heard via social media. The cast is pretty amazing, ngl. The writing process is finished now, with 9 sagas total, split into 2 acts. They are just concept albums right now tho, but earlier this year, Jorge announced that Epic will be made into an animated movie. He is also currently working on another musical called "Illium" which will be inspired by the Illiad, Homers other famous work that handles the events before the Odyssee, more accurately the trojan war. Maybe you already know all this, but I always love if someone gives me some background information so here you go...

16:10 The animators weren't paid at all. This is all a compilation fan animatics. There are commissioned scenes used in the live stream for ever saga's release but Jorge mostly just do the album and the fan do the animation on their own. There will be an animated movie coming tho

16:00 Yeh the creator said that there will be an full Animated version

38:18 here's a fun fact for ya: the macarena dance goes perfectly with the chorus of "luck runs out"

Joe Its actually already picked up for a animated movie by Jerry bruckheimer the producer of Pirates of the Caribbean and top gun and thats kinda wild because Jorge made this the musical album for his college thesis
