Smart haircut Kit.
Curious did they fix the ghosting on the 10.3 gen 2. I may have missed it in the video.
Cheers

Hi,
I've tested several Boox devices, but I haven't had the Go 10 yet. I think I'll get the Lumi, as I might miss the backlight.

Regarding the multitude of configuration options on the Lumi, this is something you do after unboxing the device, just like with any other tablet or smartphone – you log in to services, install the necessary apps, set/block notifications, set the battery management mode – and that's it. Later, you just need to make some adjustments.

Of course, Boox also has the option, or rather the requirement, to adjust the settings of Google Play apps that aren't optimized for Android; for example, Gmail might have illegible buttons.

Regarding reMarkable – I've never used it, but I've read and watched many reviews – there are plenty of configuration options there too – if you enter the Linux world via SSH ;)

I think a lot of this comes down to your definition of distraction. For my brain, distraction is the possibility of options. The distraction free element comes with having no capacity to do other things. Dedicated devices for dedicated things, means I get more done. That's where remarkable wins hands down.

I am still fine with my beloved Supernote Manta 🙂💪

The big concern I have with the Boox Go is, will it be around in 5 to 10 years. What happens if they discontinue it? What happens with all the folders and things you have spent years working with is gone? This happened to me with the Sony Daily Reader and Apple IPod where I paid money for each song and album I paid Apple for.

I am in the "Not upgrading unless EMR route". I got a Gen 1 Go10.3 right before the new iteration was announced. and at first I thought ehh I missed out damn.
After seeing the capacitive pen performance I am more than happy to stay with my EMR 10.3 and never let it go

@schedrun 4 months ago

I just want a device to read technical PDFs, add annotations and with a front light. I'm still hesitant which is the best option although the Go 10.3 Gen II Lumi looks pretty much what I was looking for.

@obiahman 1 month ago

Funny that all these reviews are about specs and none of them are about what you can actually do with them.

@giuliopiovene5490 4 months ago

Thanks for the review. I think I'll go with Boox to get apps from the Play Store. There's one thing I'd like to know if you've noticed: are there any differences between the Lumi version and the regular one? Does the screen maintain the same contrast? Does the Lumi version have a less white background? I'm really unsure which one to buy. Thanks.

Wow are those the same in so many ways - including looks. I guess the supply chain is such that "the latest" they all end up shifting to that. I wish Boox was easier to get here; at the time it was no warranty and shipping was through like an international shipper who you deal with - which, not sure how accurate I am but I was originally going to buy my Remarkable via Staples as it was $50 less - but they did not have the "Remarkable warranty" for returning it and such, I just thought (I think wisely in the end) that "gosh I think that direct connection with the company could be important".

Yes, I was hoping for a front light, but I still love the Pure! I'm so glad the the writing feel is the same as the Pro and Move. I love the look and the simplicity of the reMarkable devices. I don't want to get bogged down by controls. I simply want to capture my thoughts quickly, and Remarkable will allow me to do that.

It would be interesting to see a really closeup enlargement down to the individual pixels on how the RM Pure renders differently from the RM2.

i own a air note 2 and a 3C one friend has the rM 2 ....really good e ink devices!!! and yes theyare like less that 8 years old. the 3C i boought it one year and a half back. still dominate for me. i have to adquire for my love one a Go gen 1 jejejej thank you for the revieew

@CHfondue 5 months ago

If you're goal is to have a e-ink Tablet experience with Android and Google Play support, then do not get the reMarkable Pure. I prefer the reMarkable philosophy of using an e-ink tablet for uninterrupted focus, deep thinking and handwriting. I'm staying with the Move for its EDC form factor.

@whitewizard-z8v 5 months ago

Your voice has sold me lol

@rush48192 5 months ago

Boox go seems to have software issues and this pure is insanely overpriced but I guess when you cut almost half your work force you package a device and hope it sells, get the note 5c if you really want everything eink can offer, but even better buy an iPad mini throw a screen protector on it with the Apple Pencil Pro of course

Supernote Manta and Kindle Scribe Colorsoft user here (with Kindles and a Kobo Clara as pure eReaders). Always liked the Remarkable idea, but the 2 was too old to tempt me, and Pro displeased me when I bought it and quickly returned it (due to color flashing and a poor excuse for a backlight), and the new Pure would have tempted me a lot, just to try and maybe fall in love with, but NOT without a frontlight, since my Manta has me covered so well in that department. Frontlights naturally cloud the experience, but they also make it possible for people with poor eyesight who work all around the house (also where no lamp is close at hand) to jot things down and quickly read to-do lists and such without strain. I think Remarkable missed the boat on providing a Pure Lux (and if they ever go with that name, they should pay me for it - haha).

Wow how many tablets…..I hope your notes are synced between them…..otherwise you go crazy to find one of them 😂
Great video as usual

I made my first e-ink tablet purchase in March when the Boox GO Gen 2 Lumi was released.

I liked almost everything about it... except the lack of availability of replacement nibs. Every vendor had zero stock available and with 30 days is light use, the big was already showing wear.

Initially, I placed my order on Amazon because of the ease of returns. That was a wise decision. I returned it.

The shipment time on the Paper Pure is 4-7 weeks so I'm not sure if I want to wait that long.

I may try the Manta...
