“When the director loves you enough your character can do anything” fully explains all of these movies bro lmao

The stupidest thing about this is that there's really no reason Mila Jovovich couldn't have just been Jill from the start.

Paul WS Anderson was deadass like "Im going to direct a bunch of Resident Evil movies, completely ignore the videogames and make the entire franchise about my wife."

I wish they wouldn't dismiss the effort Sienna Guillory put into the role. Among all the actors that portrayed the videogame characters, Sienna went out of her way to watch RE3 game footage to accurately emulate Jill Valentine's mannerisms and poise. It's just that the director shunted her in favor of his Mary Sue wife.

"It's okay Jill, I'll be Jill." Captured the spirit of the movie so well, perfect tagline.

It is wild to me that Capcom really just let Paul WS Anderson make a bunch of theatrical big budget Self insert RE fanfics for multiple years

When the world needed him most, he clicked publish

FUN FACT: The guy who got cubed in resident evil 1 also gets cubed in Alien vs Predator

Colin salmon the cube guy

"You'd never see this in an adaptation today"
Forgetting Paul W.S. Anderson also directed the Monster Hunter movie 16 years later and did it again

The way they position Nemesis' photo makes it look like his driver's license.

the way they presented Nemesis just makes him look like a Power Rangers villain. He's just a dude in a monster costume lol

Paul W.S. Anderson movies are basically: "My wife is amazing and everything else sucks!" 😂

As somebody who has not seen either film franchises, I did not realize that Resident Evil and Underworld were about two different couples where the director makes their actress wife the badass main character
When I was younger I used to think they were the same series

Now that I’m older, I’m like ‘damn… I wanna do that’

We lost the second Resident Evil vid. 😭

Hi, Marcus! Just a friendly FYI. I'm a video journalist and I freelance for a TV news station. We definitely get Emmys. The reporters and videogaphers at my station have won tons and I'm hoping to win my first in the 2026 New York Emmys. Anyway, thanks for another awesome episode!

23:35 oddly enough, she wanted a brutally dumb death because her character was slated to die, but they were gonna just do like a normal dino death. So she requested for them to just make it cool and over the top instead. Hence the mvc3 combo lol.

This format is sick. It’s like you’re reviewing them while giving live commentary with Dan. It’s literally the best parts of videos mixed into one.

It's still wild to me that the Resident Evil games are now significantly more cinematic, well acted, well written, and tonally consistent than any of the live action movies ever were. The movies died so the games could live lol

CRYING thinking of marcus hitting his head on a cabinet and getting a brain bleed and his last words are “avenge me”

0:24 thats just Marcus in the morning
