Building on your assertion that it should be a musical: go even further and make it a ballet. Big dramatic emotions, physical movement that translates well into fight scenes, and no one has to try to do an American accent.

Playing random pop songs when there are like 40 thematic pop songs specifically made for the film

so what i’m hearing is that The Hunger Games (but better) is still the best adaptation

15:00 i’m like 99% sure that there’s a point in the first book where katniss picks up a backpack from the cornucopia and she gets really annoyed bc it is like BRIGHT orange so she coats it in mud as soon as she can WHYYYY WOULD THEY BE WEARING NEON VESTS

Are you, are you, taking selfies by the tree…

my friend works at this show. when i asked if he could get me free tickets, he said, "you don't want them".

The issue of Katniss addressng the audience but never acknowledging their role as the Capitol reminds me of a story I heard about a production of Hamlet where after Hamlet's death Horatio sees the audience for the first time and acknowledges their presence with disgust and fear. It feels like a real missed opportunity to not have something similar happen here, especially with how aware Katniss is throughout the books and films of the Capitol's monitoring. Like the games are literally broadcast via countless cameras hidden in the arena and she's very aware of that.

Putting the Hunger Games show in the capitalist hellscape that is Canary Wharf is HILARIOUS

as a Brit i can confirm that it’s crazy it’s in Canary Wharf the FINANCIAL DISTRICT of London the ironyyyyy

they shouldve jut adapted ballad of songbirds and snakes. its basically a musical already

the hunger games subway deal will forever haunt me man I had a friend so obsessed with the hunger games that they ended up in a pbs documentary about fandom talking about it and of course one of the many pieces of their merch collection was a promotional piece from this deal. it was a life size finnick cutout they’d stand up in the subway restaurant that they let her take and the only time I stayed over I woke up in the middle of the night believing there to be a man standing over my bed but no. it was just lifeless finnick odair staring at me watching me sleep while trying to get me subconsciously to eat fresh.

this whole thing feels like a fever dream but having a life-size replica of the hanging tree is UNHINGED

I will say for the rue murderslide the guy who killed rue hauled ASS down that thing when I saw the show. Shot down there like a rocket to kill Rue like he had a train to catch afterwards 😭

also idk if you mention this in the video as im still watching but peetas disguise actually made me jump. he's camouflaged as part of the set, so instead of being rocks he's floor tiles ?? it really works imo

the Rue Murder Slide™ is killing me (lol)

The hanging tree photo op Is DIABOLICAL

this really tastes like mr beast doing the squid game

1:25 i disagree! twice a year we have comicon in london near canary wharf and the best entertainment i get is watching all the investment bankers freak out when the cosplayers get on the tube 😂

Honestly I don’t even think it’s incorrect to say that Katniss is nurturing especially in the context of the first book - she’s not motherly or anything but the way she takes rue under her wing is very touching

i was so surprised this was on ur second channel bc this the EXACT content i'd tune into on the main one. never been happier to be here. ALSO the hanging tree photo op?? insane

They should have made the capitol a non stop musical and then have all the music stop once the games started. Then the only other time There’s singing again should be when Katniss sings to Rue and then the full blown musical all over again when they get back but Katniss and Peeta never sing or dance.

Because if the musical part is uncomfortable considering the topic I feel like it should have been used as a thematic device instead of whatever it did.
