this is the kind of videos youtube was made for 10/10 no notes

"we used to have attention spans. we used to have cups."

what needs to be studied is the whole projectile vomiting thing in movies

Please study the boom of flash mobs around this era. I feel like there’s a connection between acapella and flash mobs, similar vibes 😂

I do think we can take a step backward and trace it further to High School Musical, Camp Rock, Cheetah Girls, and Hannah Montana Disney Channel era bc that made everyone in elementary school want to get into performing arts, whether through musical theater or just music

Forgive me for being sincere but for real, this whole moment in pop culture felt like the last time we had actual hope for the world lol. We joke now about the acapella wave or “stomp clap hey” music as cringe Obama-era millennial optimism but like, I’d take this ANY day over the angry miserable algorithm-poisoned technofascist hellscape we live in now.

Once I had a substitute teacher who would only play pentatonix. We would ask for music but it was always pentatonix covers of what we wanted never the original song

That little “what you missed on Glee” at the end there ate

You're so right about Hamilton. The whole concept of Hamilton is a mashup (Founder Fathers + Rap/Hip Hop)
which gives off vibes like,  "Yeah I'm a nerd AND I have swag 😏 so what, haters?"

"A loving father and child stardom" floored me bc youre right how much media in the 00s is basically just "what if this kid had a loving (usually adoptive) father and then was also a child star"

I feel like the male group in pitch perfect is magnetic because at the time, attractive masculinity in media was never depicted by men performing or doing something nerdy.

Off topic, but man how are 2007 CGI chipmunks better than CGI that we see now lol

locked tf in when I saw that pentatonix trio telephone clip

Mike's Mic truly said it best, this is a 2009-2013 period piece 😌🙏

Memory unlocked. I was a 19 year old camp counselor in 2013 and my cabin and I did the cup song for the talent show 😅

kind of surprised you didn't mention Pentatonix having a cameo in the pitch perfect sequel!

i've been transported back to my youth

0:37 Is that baby Sabrina Carpenter?

I entered a flow state when you tied this all back to Hamilton

herman this is artistry. i’m one of the kids who watched glee, did high school show choir, went to college and did college a cappella. im a personal victim of the movement. oh plus i grew up in the town over from pentatonix and put them on a pedestal since they’d all made the texas all state choir, which i also ended up participating in at the end of high school. i yearn for the a cappella days back but i know the flame burned bright and quickly :’) 🕯️ also id never realized that alvin and the chipmunks laid the foundation; you’re ABSOLUTELY right and also the tufts revelation left me FLOORED. maybe i knew at some point but ive totally forgotten since and you blew my mind w how full circle it all
is. thank you for this gift omg plus your script had me rolling lmao quit being so funny!!!!!
