On the DVD release for this movie, they had a Thermian language track in the settings that they included for the “true fans”. And it’s just the entire movie dubbed over with actors doing those screechy dolphin noises every single time someone talks.

This movie was meta years before meta was so common of a thing. One of my all time favorites 😂

I have regularly used, "I have one job on this ship. It's stupid, but I'm going to do it." Ever since I saw this in the theater in college.

I love how this film doesn’t hold its punches but it doesn’t punch down. Fans are in on the joke because we’re part of it. It’s not making fun of fans, with making fun of the thing we, the fans, also make fun of

Rest in Peace, Alan Rickman. I really love his character, Alexander Danes' arc of growing from trying to prove himself as a "serious" actor, to realizing how much he inspired others due to his role on the show.

My fav anecdote about this movie is that Tim Allen got very emotional during one scene and asked to be excused and Allan Rickman turned to the director and said "Oh my god, he just experienced acting"

Fun Fact: Apparently, Sir Patrick Stewart was reluctant to watch this movie, worried that they'd be making fun of "Star Trek." He was reassured by his Next Generation costars that it wasn't the case, and it was more of a tribute. He ended up touched by how much the cast and crew cared about The show.

Galaxy Quest is the embodiment of "just because it's stupid doesn't mean it isn't real".

"A chillingly realistic documentary."
— George Takei

"It doesn't matter if it's societal ideals are rooted in fiction as long as we try to live up to them" goes surprisingly hard.

I love that the casts of TOS and TNG all were telling each other they absolutely HAD to catch this love letter to their show in theatres.

Fun fact: Guy's scream was improvised, so Sigourney's flinch was genuine.

Not finished watching yet, but I never see people talk about how amazing the Thermians are.  They took nonsensical ship plans and tech from scattered scenes in a tv broadcast and made a working replica of even the time travel device without knowing what it does!

Galaxy quest is amazing because it's simultaneously an excellent parody while also just straight up being Star Trek

I watched this movie as a kid and now, as an adult, EVERY SINGLE TIME I play a space game and land on a new planet or moon, I hear Sam Rockwell in the back of my head screaming "IS THERE AIR?! YOU DON'T KNOW!"

I'm surprised Alexander's "I see you managed to get your shirt off" didn't get a win!

No matter how many times I watch it, I always lose it at the "and it exploded"

Funny thing about Alan and the whole "I played Richard the Third" line is that he smiled at them when he read that and said "Well....I actually HAVE played Richard the Third"  because he'd done theater for it.  So he didn't even have to act for that part.  🤣  This was in the BTS content, and he found it most amusing.    And on the tangential note about Nimoy's biography being "I am Not Spock"  he later wrote another one called "I am Spock", years later, when he finally realized just how big of a positive impact his character had had on so many people for so many generations.  He came to appreciate and accept the role.

I will never not tear up when when Alexander says his line to a dying Quellek. Alan Rickman is always a win and will always be missed.

Love how the Thermians are some of the most iconic alien "designs" ever, and it's pretty much all acting.

FUN FACT!!   The scene where Jason is about to be blasted back to earth, and the cargo bay doors are opening up, in the theaters, this is the first moment when the curtains fully retracted to wide screen.  Up to that point in the film, they had specifically been told to only retract them like halfway, so that you were seeing the film as if it was on a TV, the only CRT type tvs in the 4:3 ratio.  I distinctly remember being in the theater and jumping a bit when the motor for the curtains kicked in, and they pulled back, perfectly in time with the movie.  This was a specific request from the director, to simulate Jason, and the Audience, being made aware of a "wider world" for the first time.   And it worked SO WELL.  Such a fun little detail.
