Imagine being told you're too old to debut, and then over a decade later, when you're even older, you finally debut with the #1 song in the world.

What's even more incredible. EJAE stated in an interview this is her first time performing live in 12 years.

Note that Ejae is still recovering from Bronchitis.. 🤯

That’s that woman first live performance in 12 years AND it’s on the tonight show. I have to imagine that performance was also with a heap of nerves.

It's also a point in the movie, that Rumi has been singing in a higher register, straining herself her entire life, while in the final song, she finally sings in her more comfortable range, her "voice without the lies". IMO this is how an in-universe live performance of Golden would sound like after the events of the movie in their comeback tour. Incredible.

"You can't fake a good vocal."
Preach, brother. Preach.
Great Analysis video. I really admire your respect for the artists.
Very well done. Thank you.

I literally cried.  Vocals were awesome… loved stronger harmonies.  Ejae was rejected by K-pop because she had raspy voice and was too old.  Their loss.  WE WON.  You were 11 and started K-pop training.  Now you are 33. Imagine getting handed platinum plaque, singing your first live performance in 12 years on a song you wrote when you were struggling from rejection.  ❤❤❤ go Ejae, Audrey, Rei

Just wanna say that the harmonies from Zoe and Mira are sooo good they make my ears tingle

There's something about EJAE's voice that hits different compared to covers. Listening to your analysis, it made me realize that it's because other singers who cover Golden were very much preoccupied with hitting the high notes. But EJAE's voice has not only the "smokey" quality to it, she also takes care of the transitions when exiting the note.

Thanks for this review, Chris. I am learning a lot. It makes me appreciate EJAE even more too!

That low, low, LOW note!!!! Love how they translated the song to a live event, made it a little different, but still amazing.

I love that we were able to see that Ejae's range is even greater than we thought. Those low notes are incredible!

She was told her voice was too boyish when she was a KPop trainee. What a tragedy and so amazing she’s finally being recognized!

She was suffering from bronchitis while filming this show. Thats why they have decided to lower the tone. It even sounds much better and more emotional ❤

I love Ijae's low note. INCREDIBLE. People keep talking about whether she hit the higher note nor not, but I was mesmerized by her deep down, low note, and her wide voice range. I love this live way better than the soundtrack.

Straight up cried on that ascend. The best artists in the world make us feel glad to be human for a moment, so beautiful.

I think I like the lower key better. It has a darker vibe that feels more powerful to me.

Absolutely incredible to think this is Ejae's proper first performance in front of a live audience like this.

Dropping the key down (she hits a G instead of an A5 here) has a double edged sword of making the low notes in this song even lower. The fact that she can pull that range off live is astounding

I am a Korean in my 60s. I've never got this kind of great analysis of a song.
Thanks a lot.
