I just watched a live radio interview with EJAE in Korea, from earlier today. She said that she had not only bronchitis, but then COVID and then caught a cold after that. Her voice is tired. So one note down is still crazy. She's a very talented individual. Prost !

In an interview Ejae said she waited 12years for this performance and she wasn’t going to let anything stop her.

Golden is certified double platinum, and this is Ejae's debut song. She's written hits in the past, but this one is hers.

The only adjective I have for Ejae is 'beautiful'. Her voice is beautiful, she is beautiful, her story is beautiful, and her personality is beautiful. I cannot be more happy for the success she is having.

Speaking of the singer's ages, Audrey Nuna is actually the youngest at 26. Rei Ami (sings for Zoey) is 30 and Ejae is 33. But Audrey has been more active in music for longer and at a higher level than Rei Ami, and Ejae far more than the others. But Ejae's experience is mainly behind the scenes, while Rei and Audrey have been active performers for a while now. It's such an interesting group, and they seem to have really good interpersonal dynamics, too.

In a radio interview, EJAE said that during the first rehearsal, she was nervous and her throat wasn’t in good condition due to inflammation, so she actually lost her voice just like Rumi.
She mentioned that when she composes songs, she usually tailors them to suit the singer, but in Golden’s case, she made it as high as possible for the sake of the work.
She also said that she used to feel self-conscious about her low and rough voice, but was surprised that people liked it.

Three birds with one stone:
1. Lower one key for doubters who claim they are just lip-singing (C3-G5 instead of D3-A5).
2. Lower one key (common live) because EJAE is recovering from bronchitis.
3. Live performance (with audience applause) for those who claim the song “Golden” was AI-generated.

I loved the lower register of the song, I'm such a fan of them and when female singers go low it's peak of delight 😍 Thank you as always for your reaction and analysis, Jen!

Something about those low notes really stunned me. 😭

In addition, the lead singer was recovering from bronchitis (which is why they all sing lower than in the original song), and she gave a masterful performance.

She had a terrible bronchitis during this performance,,that she lost her voice on the highnotes during the rehearsal,,but the manager told her to focus on the message of the song instead of the high note...and she succeeded!🎉🎉🎉

Love all your 'nerdy' vocal insights, makes me appreciate this incredible performance even more!!! EJAE is just recovering from bronchitis and so they lowered the key... and apparently she was worried ppl would be upset about that. I'm glad to see that no one, who realized it, complained and in fact, really like they did that. I love her low end and so to see her sing even lower now me away! Now we need all the songs, so we can see more of what Audrey and Rei can do too!!!❤❤❤

Not the same ages. And funny enough, REI AMI isn't the youngest even though she seems to be. Audrey Nuna born in 99, REI AMI in 95, and EJAE in 91. 90's babies FTW!

This music production Queen at 34 has written KPop hits for Red Velvet - "Psycho" and "Birthday"; aespa - "Drama" and "Armageddon"; LE SSERAFIM - "So Cynical (Badum)"; NMIXX - "O.O" and "DICE"; TWICE - "Flow Like Waves" and "LAST WALTZ"; KARD - "Icky" and "Break Down"; Kep1er - "Daisy." Now she has her own that has gone double platinum. Great reaction!
