Johan Bester Your Vocal Coach

This certainly is a genre of film (and music) that I don't normally listen to. It seems as if this 'musical fantasy film' is taking the world by storm, however, and I simply could not ignore the incredible vocals in the songs I've heard so far.

Join me as I discuss what it is that makes this song "Golden" so spectacular. I might not have all the details regarding the film 100% correct, but did try to analyse the insanely good vocals in this track!

If you're knowledgeable about this film, the music, the singers, etc., please leave a comment to inform us all!

I’m so happy EJAE is finally getting the recognition she deserves! She’s been in the kpop industry for so long but working behind the scenes… 😭💕

Respect to you for giving something you're not into a chance and enjoying it for what it is. More people need to do this.

This song is becoming the benchmark of skills by kpop idols. So many idols are covering this song to show their range.

What's more astonishing is that the lead singer is also the one who wrote this song. She's not only a phenomenal singer, but a very talented song writer as well.

a non kpop fan enjoyed the movie as a 46 year old men.

The singer was originally hired to be the songwriter. She wrote this song and when she sent in demos to the producer to show them what it was supposed to sound like. They decided that no one could sing it like her and that she had the right sound for the character so ended up hiring her to be the singing voice for the character.

Another song from the same movie with some interesting vocal performance is called "Free" It's also a pop type of song, but is slower and softer, a duet.

EJAE practiced for 10 years to be a member of girl group in SM.
Unfortunately, she did not became a member of a girl group, but she never gave up her desire of music.
Finally, she wrote this song and sang also. Great story like golden.

Love all covers of this song but I still want Ejae herself to sing this on stage. She deserves all the recognition and acknowledgment.

Every time she goes higher you are like man that's high, and then it goes even higher again and you think that's gotta be it, that's the high note. THEN she hits that note in "born to be" and it's simply unbelievable. Absolutely incredible vocalist and it's a shame the world hasn't gotten to hear her before now. She's always worked behind the scenes, and to her credit is a great songwriter/producer as well.

The notes she hits when going up for "born to be" do something to me. The vocals are amazing, thanks for breaking a lot of it down for me, im not a musician but I can appreciate great music!

Honestly, I’m shocked at how engaging these vocal coach reactions are and how many times I can hear this freaking song and it doesn’t really get old.

I needed to add, that Ejae’s voice is on par with Whitney Houston or Mariah’s Carey in their prime, mind you I’m just an old shade-tree mechanic. Regardless, her voice is just so powerful—really impactful. Hope to see more from her because it’s really standing out against all of today’s pop I’ve heard.

My daughter obsessively watched this for two weeks and finally roped me into it. Now I’m obsessively watching everything about this movie and singing this song constantly with both my girls 😂

I'm equally impressed with your perfect pitch and being able to just repeat what you hear on the keys. Well done!!

I swear, the whole movie gave me goosebumps all the way. It's so good that my body can't handle it.

I just came here to say that I LOVE that you took yourself out of your comfort zone and interest to dive into something your student enjoys and that you praised their knowledge in their field of interest. That is so amazing, comforting and inspiring as a teacher, elder and mentor. Sometimes, the people we meet along the way and guide us can have the most impact on our lives and they never know it.

Love your analysis! I’ve watched a fair number of reactions/breakdowns of Golden and you’re one of the very few who paid respect the D3. I was caught off guard by how strong it was, which is not something I hear often in this genre.

I'm not a Kpop fan aside from a chart topper here and there, but this movie blew me away. Somehow I just spent half my day watching reaction videos from musicians and vocal experts and I can't get enough. Please do the same for the other songs!
