I love how Frankie pulls the classic Disney pose of the Princess communicating with the "wild life" and then immediately pops a bottle with her eye socket.

5:09 That "this point of hair seems TOO VIOLENT" along with the other notes ("NO WRINKLES", etc) is Dana and the rest of the former Owl House crew venting their years' worth of frustration against Disney Standards & Practices getting nitpicky about the smallest things that could be possibly interpreted as "unsightly" or "not fitting the company brand".

Just want to mention that it's created by 3 people.
Dana Terrace gets all the credit, but it's also created by John Bailey Owen and Zach Marcus, and all 3 of them worked on The Owl House.

Frankie is the shield, Andi is the sword! They are: THE KNIGHTS OF GUINEVERE!!!

What's really fun about Gwen in relation to Disney Princesses is Disney, who established so many princesses in need of rescue, gradually broke away from the stereotype of the helpless princess in need of rescue as criticism of the princess image grew. They evolved them into more proactive princesses, and eventually from there into full on heroines, and then into an almost caricatured version of the heroine (referenced with the live action remake webpage that says "This princess can save herself!").

And though this Gwen is able to absolutely slaughter the knight mech, she still needs help. She can't save herself. She's been trying and trying and failing for so long, and finally when her knights find and set out to rescue her, she has just enough strength and function to scream in warning and fight off the mech in emergency mode, and she still can't save herself. She isn't strong enough, she needs help.

And it's a nice message, because somewhere along the way needing help became viewed as an undeniably Bad Thing that strong independent princesses Do Not Do, but here Gwen needing help isn't bad. It's just a fact she's been stuck with her whole abusive existence. And now her knights are here to help. I wonder where her story will go, what will freedom look like, what will her knights have to do to help her. How she's going to change now that she has people that can, ironically, treat her like a human being.

If one of the GUINEVERE  was dismembered as a "Prank"
And they are a hive mind.
They would all remember what it's like to be dismembered.

Guinevere, in my eyes, is not just an allusion to Disney Princesses, but also Barbie. The different kinds of princesses, but they're all Gwen. The faux-movie posters we saw remind me a lot of the different posters for all the different barbie movies and their premise. Excited to learn more of about this world and hopefully we get a whole season greenlit.

my theory about the blue lung situation is that everyone is suffering from cobalt poisoning! as Cobalt is primarily used in lithium-ion batteries, and in the manufacture of magnetic, wear-resistant and high-strength alloys, plus its blue! just like "blood" from the robots and infected blood/ fluids we see from people, There are three ways that cobalt can cause poisoning. You can swallow it, breathe it into your lungs, or have it come in prolonged contact with your skin. so every time people breathe the air, drink from the water or even touch or work on the blue substance they are risking exposure of cobalt poisoning

My theory is that Gwenivere started as a living being (ex. intestines, blood, screaming in pain/fear, trying to unalive herself to escape the torture). But after many attempts to escape Olivia made her more and more mechanical in an attempt to "fix her" (to break Gwenivere's spirit and make her an obedient, perfect princess).

Frankie said her reason to repair Gwen was to get a better job and work with Andi, but in her heart of hearts she wanted to save her because that’s what you’re supposed to do for Princesses. Because she’s a noble knight.

Here’s my take: Frankie and Andi represent Dana before and during her time at Disney.

Frankie represents Dana’s optimism and desire to create new things, unaware of how reality quickly drops on top of you. While Andi is Dana at Disney, just shuffling along, getting by and slowly being drained of what made her want to do what she originally wanted to do.

My wife is a DEEP nerd for Arthurian lore, went full hyper-fixation on this show, and she was picking out ALL SORTS of references of who might be whom as an analog to Arthurian lore and where things might be going in the future. Frankie and Andi may be the Green Knight and Red Knight (respectively) due to their eye color. Both of these Knights were enemies of Camelot. And/or they are analogs of Balin and Balan; Balin found out about Gwenivere's affair with Lancelot and broke his shield and her crown in anger. Balan was given the magical Damsel Sword by Nimue, only he could wield it but if he wielded it, he was cursed to kill the one he loves best and will cause his own destruction. This unfortunately comes to pass as the brothers (unknowingly) kill each other. Gwen, Frankie, and Andi are all holding a broken crown, shield, and sword (respectively).

Sparky could either the Fisher King: a former king who received a grievous wound, unable to heal himself or restore his kingdom, Tasked with guarding the Holy Grail, and/or Lancelot who fell in love with Gwenivere, betrayed Arthur to try and steal her away, AND (following the eye color theory) disguised himself as the Black Knight.

The huge sun-themed mech is named Arthur. King Arthur was often associated with sun imagery. My wive thinks that the moon themed one is going to be Morgan La Fey

ALSO, she picked out a potential reference to the fable of the chicken and the pig when she saw those toys on the dashboard of their truck. The Chicken and Pig want to make a meal for the Farmer. The Chicken suggests a dish of ham and eggs. The Chicken will be barely inconvenienced by contributing an egg, the Pig would have to totally sacrifice themselves to complete the meal.

These are all pure hypothesis from my wife and she did admit that, depending on how fast and loose Dana plays with Arthurian mythos, each character might end up corresponding to multiple people

Fun fact: sparky is voiced by a trans women

I don't think this is full on Anti Disney, I think this is anti corporatism. I wouldn't be saying that if it wasn't for Andrea and Frankie still liking Gwen, and Gwen herself protecting them. It could mean that Dana is saying that the corporate evil does not mean that the good stuff of the past never happened. It could also be a metaphor for the past Disney being better than the present one.

I have a theory that this represents Dana's ultimate punch to Disney; every character is a metaphor.

The Father in the beginning represents Walt Disney, the Father created Guinevere.

The Little Girl turned Old Woman is "The Father's (Disney's) Legacy"; owners and writers rebranding, reselling and "fixing" Guinevere.

Guinevere is The Disney Company itself, which at this point of the story is COMPLETELY broken. However, she still has enough energy and strength to take down an enormous robotic knight, representing how Dana sees The Disney Company (or any other animation company) can still be a major powerhouse if the owners and writers didn't focus on restricting and "fixing" things.

Captain Sparky represents humbler yet more challenging workers (writers) who are too lazy to work harder for something more worthwhile but become defensive when challenged.

Andi and Franki, The Knights, represent humble, hardworking people who actually have care for what they are doing and who they do it for.

13:26 took me a while to realize, I don't think the jump we saw her take was the only one. Later the servant says "she made it to the surface *this time.*" So her being in the net was maybe simply the most recent/successful.

16:30 Andi in this scene is pretty much the personality I imagine Luz would have had as an adult if she had gone to "normal camp" instead of meeting Eda. Tough enough to fight back, caring enough to show sympathy, still feeling a need to get one last dig in before walking away

12:07  Thats scene OMG, glitch knows how to give us real life PTSD, as Ex-factory worker, i can assure u thats literally how it looks like how it feels like and over all...i promised NEVER AGAIN...

The fact is that Sparky is voiced by a woman is fucking insane

22:25 That’s actually been a regular occurrence with Dana related things. Both Warden Wrath and Belos had fleshy shapeshifty body parts.
