I feel extremely lesbian for the robot gore I want more

Surely of all sentences one could say, "I got the artbook, which i pre-the FUCK-ordered" has to be height of ADHD praise, right

I too desire a video on the Knights of Guinevere art book.

I'm not sure what it says about me that I looked at the time listed for this video and thought "only 36 minutes? that's a surprise"

20:04 this feels really relatable to me as a woman who transitioned in her 30’s. I’m used to me as my body being one kind of way: its structure with a center of gravity that has stayed more or less the same for a long time. Now in two years on HRT all of that has been changing- fat distribution, pelvic tilt, joint elasticity… My balance is changing. And I am having to learn how to live in a body that feels more and more right but also is deviating more and more from who I thought I was for so long.
And, even further, my mind and emotions have seen some major changes from the HRT in my body. That has led to me wanting other changes to my mental healthcare that have in turn meant trying to reckon with a decade of anesthetizing my emotions after living over two decades tormented by a culture of brainwashing and existential dread that used toxic positivity and spiritual bypassing to cover up its harm (Mormonism).

So… well. I’m not an android but I am autistic, and I’m sure plenty of people understand the cultural parallels there.

This show is going to wreck me even further isn’t it?

My theory:
Guinevere is Olivia’s mom, an actor who played the original Princess Guinevere.
But she would eventually grow old and therefore no longer marketable, so Orville Park turned her into a cyborg. Olivia witnessed the brutal transformation and became traumatized. Her repeatedly carving into the Gwen-bot is her reliving the trauma. Maybe Olivia hated her mom, while still loving the character (Guinevere) she played. Or the other way around, she loved her mom and tries to turn the Gwen android back into her mother, continuely mutilating her in attempt to bring her back.

Hints for this theory:
When Frankie scrolls through her laptop, it shows a machine with a human inside it.

Beginning of Ep 1 when Olivia pulls on Gwen’s guts, it gives of the imagery of an umbilical cord, like a mother connected to a child.

In the original legend, Guinevere was the wife of King Arthur. Orville Park and Sir Arthur, the sun faced giant at the end of episode 1, have the same VA. Another theory that Orville put his conscious into Sir Arthur to protect Olivia from beyond the grave.

In the teaser trailer when it switches between the operation tools, it shows that one of them has red blood. But androids have blue blood, so this could be a flashback of the human Gwen being turned into a cyborg.

Concerning the finger thing, I don't think the Gwen they met at the claw machine was Olivia's Gwen. Both of them said they'd never seen a model like Fucked-Up-Gwen's, and they established in the pilot that the Gwen's share a database that records the people they've met before so that when they meet another Gwen it will be as if they're meeting the same one. I think what happened is that they met a Standard Park Mascot Gwen, and when Franky saw that that Gwen had a defective finger, she fixed it. When Fucked-Up-Gwen saw Franky again, she recalled that memory and basically simulated the fucked up finger in the hopes that, just like Franky helped out the previous Gwen, she would help this one as well. At least, that's my theory

I fucking love the KoG art book, for me it is how in lockstep the background artists and the lighting artists are
Like hot damn they complete each other's work so well how do they do it

i watched this trailer yesterday and didnt even bother with playing it on 0.25 speed and pausing to see all the flashing frames bc i knew skyen will talk about every pixel of it soon

As someone who has just started his final year of his Vocational Training in animation, watching TB's reactions to different animated shows is sooooo helpful from the perspective of "okay what does the average art pervert (nonsexual) want from their cartoons", I have like 1.5k words worth of annotations on JUST these three KoG videos alone

6:48 I'm surprised I've not seen anyone talk about the fact that Olivia has light in her eyes in this scene. Especially considering how much the pilot emphasised the lack of light in her eyes.

Edit: I'm dum there are a lot of shots with light in Olivia's eyes I j misremembered lol. They are only when she's doing something with Guinevere (unless I missed a scene) so it's more interesting to see if that stays consistent over the course of the show

Also something to point out? The Gwen designs we see around robot gwen in that one scene are her CONCEPT designs from the art book. They’re on a meta sense not the true “final” Gwen either.

I immediately noticed the tiaras which interestingly isn’t something gwen has in her final design. She’s a princess with no crown.

24:02 I’m *still* not sorry for starting the five minute character design tangent btw lol

fine skyen, I'll listen to you 30 minute yapping on a minute of video

I like that you cackle like a gremlin every time you think about cartoon violence

"Oh shoot auto translation is o- nevermind."

There is an image in the art book there is an image of Gwen’s face, that I find disturbing when I consider it. There’s a line running along her cheek and it ends in a bead placed squarely in the dimple of her smile.

25:17 Dana terrace showing her gravity falls roots with putting lore in the art books! [She created owl house but was also storyboard artist and animator for Gravity Falls]

I also have the artbook and now I feel bad that I haven't actually opened it yet. It's just sitting there (menecingly), like in a museum lol

All right class, now turn to page 23 of your Art Books o(￣▽￣)ｄ
