Today I’m reacting to things that confuse foreigners about the UK 🇬🇧😳

As an American, I can confirm that Britain has a special talent for making me question reality on a regular basis 😂

From British slang and place names to everyday customs and things Brits consider completely normal, there are so many parts of UK life that leave foreigners scratching their heads.

The best part? Most British people don't even realize how confusing some of this stuff is because they've grown up with it!

The first stamp was the 'Penny Black', not the Black Penny.
Affixing a stamp upside down is not treason.

Fun fact People from Wigan are called pie eaters. They claim it's because they love pies when in fact it comes from a rugby match against St Helens claiming victory before the match even happened. When Wigan got trounced the St Helens supporters announced that they made them eat, Humble Pie!

My mother who died a couple of years ago was over the moon to get a card from the Queen for her 100th birthday and then one from the King for her 105th.

Hi Kelly, the first postage stamp was called "the penny black" rather than the black penny, which sounds more like a very grubby coin. The suit of armour prohibition stems from the 12th century, when it was more common-place apparel than it is today. It's just far easier to leave it on the books than it is to repeal it. The Queen didn't have a passport or driving licence since all passports and licences are issued in the reigning monarchs name..

The biggest selling tea in the US is Lipton's which is actually British and is at least decent. It's the dreadful things you do with it that produces the terrible results

You can use kettles in the US. They just take longer to boil because of the low power. They still switch off when they reach boiling so you can't burn a pot if you forget about it.

He could not even spell Rowling correctly (Rownling??? - really). It is NOT illegal to visit the cinema in Northern Ireland on a Sunday assuming an appropriate licence is held by the cinema

you have kettles, they take a bit longer cause of the voltage, but they work just as fine.

It is titbit, not tidbit. We are not scared of the syllable Tit. Upside down stamps are NOT an act of treason. And the first stamp was the Penny Black, not the Black Penny.

Brits were boiling water for tea long before the invention of the electric kettles. Stovetop kettles work fine in the US too.

that one about the suit of armour in the houses or parliament, if you watch it some time, where the house is devided into to sides, look on the floor, you will see a line on either side, this where they had to sit behind, because it was deemed our of a swords reach
