Today I'm reacting to 13 Things Britain Does WAY BETTER Than America according to Girl Gone London, and I'm fully prepared for the comment section to have opinions.

From everyday conveniences and culture to things Britain has somehow figured out while America continues to make them unnecessarily complicated, we're putting the UK and USA head-to-head.
And as an American who's spent years living outside the US, I've definitely discovered there are things other countries do that make you stop and think:
“Wait… why DON'T we do this in America?” 😭

That doesn't mean Britain wins at everything—and I'm sure we're going to find a few things on this list that I completely disagree with—but that's half the fun.
🇬🇧 What does Britain genuinely do better than America?
🇺🇸 And be fair: what's ONE thing America actually does better than Britain?

I have a feeling those answers are going to start some arguments. 😂

Cadbury isn't as good as it was since they sold out to Mondelez (US) and they've changed the recipe.

Mushy peas, despite what London might tell you, are not garden peas, pureed. They are marrow fat peas (a large dried pea) stewed and cooked in broth until the texture of hummus. If a chippy makes their own they can be a wonderful balance to the greasy chips. Again a touch of malt vinegar elevates them too.

Saying Butyric acid is the "vomit smell" was a much nicer way of introducing it than my way of explaining that it is produced by dogs anal glands.

When 'Kraft', bought out Cadburys, the taste of chocolate, went from being lovely, to slop, being churned out, just to maximise profits...

I bought some US chocolate back from a trip once and left a load in break room at work. No one ate it again after trying it, lol. It had to be thrown away in the end.
And yes, the US drive for profit over people has ruined many UK chocolate brands since buyouts.

One of the things that astounded me when I first started visiting the US was the absence of kettles. Like, I'd check into a hotel and there'd be a filter coffee machine... how am I supposed to make tea using that?

In the UK they're ubiquitous, it would be deeply weird for a home not to have a kettle. They're in every hotel room unless it's so budget that it doesn't have any facilities.

Yeah Cadbury's were bought out by Kraft and they replaced cocoa butter with palm oil. It's still okay, but not nearly as good as it was.

A properly cooked chip has a fry like crunch on the outside, and is voluminous enough to combine it with a fluffy melty centre. It usually means roughing up the thing with par boiling and a shake in a hot pan first, and taking the starch out before that.

You can't make good tea in Denver! In the Mile High City, the boiling point of water is only about 96C. To release the flavinoids (oils which carry the flavour) you need a temperature of 98+!
On the other hand, coffee tastes better there because the water is not so hot that the flavour is lost. The flavinoids in coffee ideally want the water at 85-95C.

Cadbury & Galaxy are very big producers . Now we have many very small producers who make it in there kitchen , roast there own choclate pods and add there own flavors and are sold local in farm shops or other local shops , the same for cheese , meat , beer etc etc etc

M's fries are from potatoes that are sprayed with a chemical that the farmers have to wear 'hasmat' suits, then left in sheds so the chemicals can air.

I know I’m late with this video but regarding tea. You really need a tea pot. Tea needs to mash for at least 4 mins. not ideal in a small cup of hot water. You keep a tea bag in a cup for that length of time & it will taste stewed, but it needs that time for the flavours to come from the tea which is why you need an amount of hot water for the tea to release its flavour.

For real tea the best is loose tea steeped in a pot a china cup with some milk and sugar if you must pour the tea into a cup using a strainer but my preference is a drop of milk and tea that has been steeping or boiled on the hob it is very strong and it's called builders tea. Our cheese is yummy heaps of regional ones.
