Describing a wally as someone athletic, shouting bagsy if you are mugged and a knees up at the doctors had me dying 🤣

FYI: Being 'made redundant' is NOT the same as being 'fired'! It iwhen you lose your job due to staff reductions and should NOT affect your ability or chance of finding a new job, the same way being 'fired' would!

Skiving is the process used in leather crafting to reduce the thickness of leather, especially in areas that are to be bent or folded and which must be pliable without becoming weakened. The majority of jobs in the leather business are performed standing but the skiver was allowed to sit giving the skiver an easier life. Consequently, skiving became the term for taking the easy way.

2:40 Being "fired" is due to errant actions of the employee. Being "made redundant" is through no fault of the employee. for example the company is shedding a department or jobs as cost cutting. Typically someone made redundant will be entitled to a lump payment in place of notice. Workers cannot just be dismissed without warning with no misconduct on their part. Exceptions being "Gross Misconduct" or if someone is in a probationary period.

When Lyndsey gets the giggles it cracks me up. Her laugh is so infectious! LOL
If you haven't already, you need to do a quiz on Cockney Rhyming Slang.

Tongue wagging = gossiping. Tongue lashing = being told off.

Bagsy doesn't refer to any part of a car and I have never heard it used of a seat in a car. Bagsy just means, "I claim ..."

All of your 'American' alternative sayings are also used in the UK. Don't forget where all 'English' language derives from. In the words of Al Murray, the clue is in the name.

I'm hoping never to have a 'knees up' in the doctors office!

@Nimzzeee 1 year ago

21:37 and we are changing our doctor immediately 😂

Maybe you guys could do a quiz on cockney rhyming slang 😊

You did well, 'Plonk' can be used as a verb to sit, so plonking on a sofa was a good guess and is a valid use. Your background UK knowledge and exposure to the vernacular is paying dividends. As for the Doctor's visit knees up 🤣
