Imagine being a church and having less compassion then WALMART because Walmart lets people sleep in their cars in their parking lots

When you're queer, "Jesus loves you" becomes a threat, as it's always a justification for their hatred

"Queer people have existed longer than Christianity" such a simple statement, It's not new information to me but I'm tearing up, we have always been here and we will always be here

That was AMAZING to see a pastor actually *protect their flock*!!! She saw wolves in sheep’s clothing and stepped in with love and compassion.

The apology letter: "We're really sorry we got caught."

my bishop told a story yesterday about a time when he was on a long road trip and his car broke down, so he was waiting at a gas station for it to be towed. At the gas station he saw a woman sitting on the ground next to her car full of kids, crying because she didn’t have enough money to fill up her tank. Her husband had just left her, and she was driving across the country to move in with her parents because she couldn’t afford to feed her children anymore.  She thought she had enough money for the drive, but she had miscalculated and now she didn’t know how she was going to make it to her parents house 2 states away. My bishop filled her gas tank, walked across the street and bought her groceries and gift cards for them to be able to make the rest of the trip. After saying a prayer with her for her safety while driving, he sent her on her way.
That’s what Christ would do for someone in need, that’s how Christians should be acting towards everyone, regardless of if they are members or their congregation, or are even Christians themselves

That first one breaks my heart. There’s a lot of things wrong with my old church, but when the church secretary found out a woman was living behind the church building, the congregation rallied together to buy her a nice tent and warm clothes. People talked with her and found out she used to be a hairdresser, so the women at the church started hiring her to do their hair. Someone had an unused rv on their property, so they asked her if she felt comfortable moving into their rv. She now has a house, a steady income, and a community who loves and supports her. This is what Jesus would want, not these soulless, cruel assholes

The sadness in that 19y/o's voice has me tearing up ):

The difference between the first church and the third one is that the LGBT pastor wouldn't have turned that woman away when she asked for help.

The pastor at the queer friendly church: “People should be treated with kindness”

That dude: “Obviously this person is sick and twisted”

As a British person I can confirm that yes, "My son is gonna do you" is most definitely a threat of physical violence.

5:33 They always tell the homeless to go to the "proper channels", but they dont EVEN TRY to connect them to those resources that are IRONICALLY much harder to find if you are homeless, for example section 8 requires an address to get the mail.

43:31 I hate how teaching kids the correct names of body parts is “grooming” and “sexualizing” kids but saying this boy is a lady’s man or that girl is gonna have her pick of boys isn’t. Like

That guy filming the queer church is actually terrifying. The kind of person who would turn a weapon on a church like that.

Hey I was at that pride! And that church is the only church in town that openly loves people regardless of their sexuality and differences.

The fact that at a pride event at a church requires security is profoundly saddening.

"Horrifying but deeply unsurprising" ...describes everything I've deconstructed.

Really hope that girl Jenna wasn't made to feel ashamed for standing up for herself because she got emotional. I'm super proud of her bc 19 year old me wouldn't have had the guts to do what she did. I hope she feels proud of herself as well cause she should!

it's so hard to not be an an agressive reddit anti-theist when the culture and power structure of an organised religion takes an old woman and says to her her "hey you should follow that young girl into the bathroom and insult her to her face."
