I'm a white latina and that second tumblr post made me SO mad. Tyler has no idea what he's talking about. Portuguese people are not hispanic (they don't speak Spanish) and they are definitely not latino (not from latin america). Even if he was descended from latino people (which Tyler is NOT) he would still be considered white, because 'latino' is not a race, it is a geographical and cultural identity meant to include anyone who has been born/raised in latin america. A latino can be white, black, indigenous, mixed, even asian.

Tyler is a very ignorant person and the annoying thing is that he seems to position himself as a highly educated and virtuous guy. He's also clearly desperate for a sense of community, which may be why he also tried to label himself as 'two-spirit', but at the end of the day he's still reclaiming identities that are not his to claim.

ok one important thing I think Tyler isn’t realizing is he’s literally got a white savior complex. Like the same exact thing that colonists had. He’s just taking a different method to push it lol.

I’m a 36 year old gay man who grew up on a reservation in Oklahoma, I’m a member of the Osage tribe.   Growing up I never heard the word two-spirit being used, if someone was trans we just called them trans.   The term Two Spirit is sort of linguistic Dream Catcher, it was something that was legitimately used by specific tribes in specific locations during specific periods in history.   To use the term, or a dream catcher, or a feather head dress for that matter (a Great Plains tribe clothing) would be reductive to Native American culture as a whole and disrespectful to my own tribe because those things are not Osage.

12:52 Hi, Indigenous Beadworker here! Funnily enough, I am currently beading a piece of regalia for this upcoming powwow season while watching this, as I am a jingle dress dancer as well. I suffered a relatively bad back injury last summer and hunching over beadwork for hours can cause my spine to ache. What I can attest to is that beadwork is not exactly “back-breaking” but can become extremely uncomfortable when doing it for long periods of time just like sewing, painting, etc.

Beadwork in my culture is considered medicine and is often used in ceremony and regalia to represent cultural things such as our beliefs of human spirit, connection with earth and animals, history, etc. Tylers comments on wanting to “help keep the practice/culture alive” are incredibly insensitive and in poor taste. If anyone reading this wants to be involved, I suggest going to local powwows and purchasing beadwork for approved indigenous vendors! I have many white friends who I have taken to powwow, gifted beadwork and ribbonwork to and involved in ceremony and celebration, but I would never give them my “blessing” to recreate these cultural practices elsewhere.

What makes me laugh is that he can't even be a direct descendant of Edgar Allan Poe because... he never had children. And he was also adopted, so it would be pretty rough to find family ties there.

What’s really frustrating me about this situation is that Wilbur has more than 1 victim. I am very glad  that everyone is talking about shubbles story because she deserves to be believed but there is more victims. There was another YouTuber (her name is AliceLPS and is a cosplayer I’m pretty sure) who came out about Wilbur’s abuse and how he sa’d her and I wish that more people knew her story too because SA survivors deserve to have their story heard!!!
