There are a variety of ways to pay off your debt! PDS Debt can help, but obviously do your research. Good luck. I know what it’s like to have a lot of debt and it took me a long time to pay it all off! Now go ahead and drag me in the comments for my bad architecture takes.
(I'm playing San Andreas finally now btw-- wow what a vibe)

shout-out daniel steiner (go watch his vids) and shout-out Fran Leadon (go buy his book)

i love when an expert is featured in these videos and theyre clearly a little confused yet still helpful

Another certified "watching something while eating" banger

The fact that you found the small corner cut apt building on google maps is insane

19:58 the real life inspiration house is 380 Highland Ave, Newark City, NJ 07104, build in 1927.

Your "oldest building" is actually a real house in NJ. It's address is 380 Highland Ave, Newark, New Jersey. It was built in 1927 and was used in The Sopranos as the home of the character "Uncle Junior".

"I'd take me LITERAL DAYS!"

"I'm going to do it, obviously."

I never doubted you, Austin

I’m a city planner in a suburb of a big northeastern city. One way you can tell the age of a historic home that has been substantially altered, such as the colonial home in the video, is by its position on the lot. Colonial houses were built before zoning laws and setbacks. As a result, they’re almost never set back the same distance from the lot lines as the neighboring homes. Moreover, they are typically situated right next to the street. There was almost no reason to set them back any further than absolutely necessary. Since this house seems to have the same setbacks, lot-size, and general placement as the homes around it, I would say it’s suburban tract house from the 1920s. Maybe 1900 at the earliest.

11:15 i don’t think a single person who watches your videos has ever thought anything like this was boring gang

I don't even find it disappointing that your conclusions were somewhat debunked. What I admire about this channel and its videos is using the scientific method to chase threads of curiosity. This is how we explored new ideas for hundreds of years before the internet.

if we take real number.
The statue of Hapiness (the gta IV equivalent of our liberty statue) stand on top of a stone brick structure, and the lower part of that stone structure, is a 1807 star shaped fort built to defend the city, but when the liberty statue was given by the french (the exact same guy that built the effeil tower by the way) the fort was reconditionned to be the pillar of the statue.
so that fort is the oldest ''certified'' building of GTA IV with 201 years old during the event of gta 4 (2008) if we take the age of his real life counter part.

EDIT : i checked the game myself to verify, and according to my hour long helicopter search, this fort is still the oldest building of liberty city made in liberty city, and yes its a building because unlike other fort (like the quebec citadel) the wall arent a brick wall built over a pile of dirt ,but are, a nice, giant allway... well  they are all fullfilled with concrete nowadays but.... It has a interior at some point so it count ! 1807 big winner here.
so GG to the fort under hapiness statue that doesnt have a name but, is named''fort Wood''in real life so his in' 'gtaverse'' name is maybe Fort Log or something

2:40 I'm no architecture historian, but I'm pretty sure a lot of the building projects during the great depression were conceived quite literally just to provide people with jobs. Like famine follies on a super sized scale. But at least with things like the Empire State or the Hoover Dam, it would provide long-term employment avenues even after completion.

Very interesting, but I'm gonna have to give it to city hall. the brickwork on that house is far too new, the style of a 1950s house, they're all over the place in the east coast. the windows are very oddly small, but maybe the builder wanted it to match older houses in the area at the time, or, as you said, the developers made a mistake. but with that house shape and brickwork, i could never call that building that old.

Unfortunately your okdest building cannot be the oldest. The brickwork is single wythe. That means theres only one layer of brick with something behind it like concrete. That started in the 1920s. There should be layers of brick every 6 rows or so where the brick’s ends are showing rather than the sides. Some other older patterns also weave in ends on some rows. But yeah, the brickwork means its 1920s at the oldest

Real estate listings in New York use 1900 as a default date for old buildings. I don't know if the systems don't allow older dates or if it's a catch-all for buildings the realtor doesn't want to do their research on but that's why you saw that for the Soho building

Something I noticed was on the brick and wood building, the bricks under the windows were vertical which matched the examples of houses from the 1950s not the historical houses from the 1800s.

20:26 hearing gta 4 and 20 year old video game in the same sentence is just scary

20:17 it might be a revival colonial style, mixed styles suburban building... So it might be from the 1950s + or from the 1910s (just because it looks very planned out and the bricks are very fine and not buff broken bricks) just a theory though

I always forget how comparatively new the United States is - here in my coastal town in England, our local castle was built by the Romans in 290AD (with Norman modifications approximately 800 years later in the early 1000s) and our oldest pub (which I drink in frequently!) was built in 1180! Pevensey Castle and the Lamb Inn, Eastbourne.

3:22 No, that's the Daily Bugle.
