* I do not personally think the Cambridge Crater seems like a bomb, but that seems to be the agreed lore online among Fallout fan communities.

I don’t honestly have anything to add other than to say this video is a banger, and the next video in 2 weeks is also going to be a banger, and the one after that is also going to be a banger, and then one MORE after that will also be a banger. Beyond that I can't say.

Cambridge Crater looks more like a sinkhole than a bombing site. Could be something detonated underground instead of in the air like nukes do.

The cars in Fallout detonate like nukes when you destroy them so I think it's safe to assume the aeroplane engines in the Fallout universe would explode the same

Detonating a nuke offshore to cause a tidal wave could also explain the damage at the airport and why so much of it is underwater.

If this guy made a portal 2 video his head would explode trying to make sense of the facility

at some point his hair is just going to be clips

Here's a fun fact for you: there is actually a third type nuclear bomb, a nuclear bunker buster. These earth-penetrating weapons are used to strike underground targets, like tunnels, bunkers, and infrastructure. Their craters look wildly different from either air burst remains or gound detonations. I don't think we've seen those in the 3D Fallout games, but there ya go!

There is a submarine responsible for launching the attack on Boston. It dropped 5 out of 6 of its payload. The Captain confirms that they hit their targets perfectly - meaning crater house was probably caused by the plane crashing and the reactor probably interacting with something which caused the explosion.

The main target for the nuclear bombs was Sentinel Site in the Glowing Sea. So is suspect that the glowing sea is the result of multiple detonations in the same area. If you look at a satilite image of the Fallout 4 map the charred part of the glowing sea isnt perfectly circular. (Its also littered with craters.)
As for Boston Airport, the main target of the nuclear weapon was probably fort strong.
Both Fort Strong and Sentinel Site has a stockpile of weapons - Fort Strong also had intelligence on Liberty Prime.

So the Targets for Yangtze were Fort Strong, Fort Hagan and Sentinel Site, which according to terminal entries detected multiple inbound attacks.

You only see the one nuke hit when lowering into the vault. But that could have been the only ground hit due to calibration error as most nuclear attacks were in fact airbursts.

Hopes this helps Austin. Cannot wait for the New Vegas one.

"heavens my aim is bad! is that the museum of witch-"

I would argue that Boston airport simply sunk. It's reclaimed land built in the sea and overtop of some former islands. Without humans to maintain the water management infrastructure it would eventually sink back beneath the waves.

I always imagined Cambridge Crater came from an underground nuclear generator exploding, rather than a bomb. Would explain it's smaller size and leaving the surroundings in tact.

I kinda love the implication of the video being "I hired an expert to help me evaluate the footage. So now we go to a place marked specifically by our expert" and the punchline is "There's nothing here that would indicate anything happened here. There's no reason to think that and we don’t know why our expert did"

28:18 My guess is that it was a plane carrying a conventional explosive or tactical nuclear weapon, one in the low kiloton range at most. When the bomb went off it crashed, and the bomb combined with the nuclear engines detonated causing the crater & irradiation still found at the scene. just acting like a miniature ground strike nuclear detonation.

5:30 the Boston area was generally very swampy/boggy before land reclamation filled much of it in. That’s why the baseball field is “Fen”way park, cause it was in a Fen, which is basically just a temperate swamp.

8:30 just a note, the nuclear attack is itself a war crime so i don't think nuking a water facility is really something the people picking targets are concerned with. not that any of that would really ever matter if it actually happened.

20:44 I just realised, Skylanes 1981 was headed east, away from the main blast in the glowing sea to the south-west, meaning the pilots weren't blinded by the flash and could still try their emergency landing. Everything fits, neat!

heck crazier things have happened in reallife ... i remember there was a plane that crashlanded in a feild near some allied troops and they reported the engines stayed on and thy were unable to get into the plane due to not knowing how the doors worked ... when they got in there they found things like half eaten snacks and ration stuff and other things strewn around as if the crew just vanished in the middle of doing whatever they were doing ... turns out they bailed due to multiple engine failures from getting shot at and were somewhere in liberated france or something and when the engines cooled off enough because they were seized at the time they were still at full throttle so they started right back up and since the plane was trimmed just right it just kept flying with whatever engines kept going in whatever shape they were till it finally crashed in that field probably going slow due to engine damage and being relatively level just did a belly landing like normal.

The plane that crashed in Crater House was probably a plane transporting a nuke or possibly containers of mini nukes like the ones that sorround the area and store mini nukes in Fort Strong.

5:35 Swamp: Flowing freshwater and live trees
Bog: Rain-fed, stagnant and dead trees

I hate to say it that second "impact" is a sink hole
