What is steel compared to the hand that wields it?

If you don’t have a friend who will cry for you, you don’t have a friend.

I love how Conan and Subutai can just boast and laugh about their gods without getting offended. All in good fun. We should be more like those guys.

The Conan stories began in a pulp fiction magazine called "Weird Tales", by Robert E. Howard, in the 1930's. It then became a series of adult fantasy novels in the 1950's, finally then rewritten as 'comic books' in the 1960's. This film was faithful to the original story style. Arnold made a perfect Conan.

This movie OST is so linked to the images that it's almost an Opera play!

No one seems to realize the broken sword was his father's sword

This film was shot in my country, Spain, because it is full of medieval castles, ancient Bronze Age villages, and very mysterious places.

I like the fact that entire introduction about his father telling him the only thing he could trust was steel, even using the fancy sword he just cast as an example, and then that sword breaks. Showing him to doubt everything

Valeria  character is a strong female role done right. The actress did a great job. One of my fav characters of the 80s.
"Do you want to live forever?"
Who used to play golden axe on the mega drive?

The guy that sold them the Black Lotus is a cameo by the late great Ron Cobb who was the production designer AND he designed both the Father's sword from the beginning and the Atlantean sword Conan found in the crypt.  They were then forged by the also late, great Jody Samson.

"What is best in life?"
"To crush your enemies, see them driven before you und hear the lamentation of the women."

42:37 - She was visiting from Valhalla, looking much like a Valkyrie

The symbolism in this movie sets it apart. The broken steel sword chops the flesh.

In the span of a few years, James Earl Jones had 2 "I am your father" moments. LOL.

The soundtrack by Basil Pouledoris (RIP) is so well done.

42:55 Its the sword that was made at beginning of the film by his father and given to the Henchman by Thulsa Doom. The broken sword he uses to cut his head off at end of the film.

Wow. Two people actually watching and reacting to a movie, and not putting on a big "LOOK AT MY QUIRKY PERSONALTY" performance. What a novel idea. Subbed.

Very few reactors catch the hypnotism! Great reaction, glad you guys liked it.

An explanation for the Valeria appearance: First, she promised to fight at his side "here or on the other side". Then Conan's remark on Crom possibly throwing him out of Valhalla implies, together with her shiny armor and the wings on the helmet, that now she's in Valhallah and has become a Valkyrie. Since Conan asked Crom for help, Crom did assist him by sending Valeria.
