Chad fixed that song in my opinion

He turned the song from sinking depression to raging bout of depression 😅 pretty cool interpretation.

Chad Smith. Living Legend

It's difficult to put into words how impressive this is. Mind blowing stuff.

Chad is a beast- this is way better than the original

One thing no one mentions (notices) is how relaxed he is while he's playing.
Look at the way his head loosely bobs on his shoulders. He's not really trying to play the song, he's just grooving to it using all the tools and methods that have become second nature after having done this his whole life.

I wish you would've watched till the end!!! he did some more complex and cool ass drum shit while listening to the original!!!

Chad is one of the GOATs for a reason. His active listening paired with overwhelming experince enables him doing things others simply cant.

You can see how talented will is , i feel like im watching him write a song as he plays.
Bro is a musical genius ❤
His own notes he chose makes this one of the baddest covers i have ever heard.

Thank you chadum ❤

Hes always been a beast on the drums. Fucking legend.

Nice reaction, very informative, but I really wish you would have watched the whole video, as Chad right after you stopped starts improvising again, a completely different approach and then talks about his approach with the Chili Peppers about composing.

4:28 Is such a cool point in this video.  You can tell he focuses up ready for something in the song to change, then quickly realize he has a bit more time and gets back into it.  Then at 4:43 you can see this is what he was expecting and changes gears right on cue.
13:00 was a bit taken back by that sum41 reference lol

Bruv you should do blind drumless songs. I think it's so rad to see every drummers different interpretation.

Chad elevated this song to epic levels.

Technically, he's not actively listening, he listened for something like a second, got the tempo, decided on an approach and improvised the entire thing. At the end of the day, Chad Smith is a session drummer in addition to being the drummer for RHCP. If The Wrecking Crew still existed, he'd probably be a member.

It is like a super power, he is a great talent fed by passion. and experience.

Many people play the drums. Chad Smith speaks rhythm.

He just blew their song up!!

I've watched a lot of reactions and the original a bunch of times. If you watch closely, you can spot exactly when he's listening to the transition points and when he knows he's still on the flow and goes for it.

Watch his head at 11:01 that's his biggest tell. You can see the focus, he's listening to see if he needs to change on his next time. He knows he's still locked in and can continue.

In his 30 seconds to mars video he runs over the change, but carries through with his 3s tempo as not to ruin the timing and switches on the next pass.

Nice and informative, straight to the learning!
