50 yrs of drumming experience and instinct on display

The  series is also of other drummers listening to drum less tracks. But usually they listen to the whole song and takes notes, Chad is just a giga chad and couldn't give a shit and just jumped straight into it jamming style.

This is the kind of talent that can't be taught. This is a natural gift mixed with a love for the art.

As a drummer, once you know the time, in this case 3, you've got it... it's just a pattern built in 3 that repeats and Chad's years of experience can lead him through breaks and changes and look almost flawless... keeping mind that chad Smith has been playing drums for 40 years and has forgotten more about drums than most people know

I've seen almost all of the the Drumeo videos and this one is the best IMO.

What Chad is doing comes down to rock music having a shared language and predictable patterns. Most rock songs build in 4 and 8-bar blocks, so when the guitar gets louder or the bass shifts, an experienced drummer knows instantly that a chorus or fill is coming. Verses usually stick to a tight hi-hat, while choruses open up to loud crash and ride cymbals. After decades of playing, Chad’s hands just react automatically to those cues in real time. He’s just speaking fluent rock.

12:22 No. He knew 100% that the song was ending/over. He threw this section in entirely for comedic reasons 😊

Him drumming “bring me the horizon” is now out on drumeo.

Hes just jamming as if he is the actual drummer, best reaction video on Chad skills.

Him with the dua lipa track is a fun video

What strikes me in these drumming challenges is that drum kits are so different. (I don’t play drums.) The way they play for certain songs is not only dependent on how you’ve been trained but also what your drum kit is. Chad is so clearly an experienced and intuitive musician.

The drummer for Megadeath does the same thing to mr. Brightside. First listen and all. It's dope

There's a great video of a Jazz band hears Nirvana for the first time. Cool to see this concept with an entire band.

Oh my god, one of my favorite drum videos and a Jokers reference.

He's spent 30 years as a session drummer doing what I've sort of been doing for about 2 years as a novice church drummer, so I absolutely 100% believe that if a dumb dumb like me can figure out the time signature and tempo and come up with a basic drum line for a song and then figure out its construction by the end of the first verse or chorus, then he ABSOLUTELY can throw this together after picking up the 3/4 time signature and recognizing the half time beat in the chorus. If you really compare what he did note by note with the original, it's wildly different, BUT it still sounds like it's the same because it's still a half time 3/4 tempo drum line with breakdowns, builds, and runs at all the right transitions.

Chad Smith is one of those GOD level drummers! It is unimaginable what this gentleman can do with drumsticks, I had the opportunity to see them live with the RHCP and they are amazing, EVERYONE in the band. I have seen him playing live metal reef by Pantera, Korn and Deftone, that is, genres that are completely different from RHCP and he played them as if nothing had happened, you can see that he is a drummer who breathes that and lives from it, his memory music is incredible, it is not for nothing that he has been doing this for more than 40 years.

Yes they definitely include  a lot of people on the channel!  Thank you ladies for creating the content. My request is you two reaction to disturbed the sound of silence, or ronnie radke last resort please

As a former drummer, one can really hone this type of skill by doing what's called improv swing/jazz. I learned in band class back in middle school where the music starts and you have to quickly learn to feel the music and come up with the drums on the spot without overpowering the rest of the group. After awhile, you can almost "predictively feel" where different key changes and stuff are coming in the song based solely on muscle memory.

Puts me in tears every time I hear it.  The best drum part ever!  That is from his years with the Pea Funk!

Chad knows how certain musics are typically structured. So, he basically have an educated guess on when a breakdown or when dynamics are changing. That plus accompanied by adjustments through active listening to what is happening with the instrumentations and the vocals. He was even adjusting mid swing.
