As a drummer, this is one of my favourite videos on the internet. Chad Smith is one of the greats of drumming (AND he looks like Will Ferell) and in this video he proved why. One listen, one take. Made an already great song into an amazing one. Check out this video to see what separates good drummers from the best.

“Can you fix the broken?”

Chad Smith: There. I fixed it

Chad is a beast. He is one of the few drummers to go on Drumeo and do a single take in these first time listening challenges, and he’s done it more than once. That’s S Tier improvisational skills. ❤❤❤

Great suggestion, David! There are a few legendary drumming performance videos I can think of off the top of my head that I’m betting Sawyer would love to hear, thanks for exposing him to the Drumeo channel! 🤘

I highly recommend pretty much ANY of the Drumeo videos where they highlight a particular drummer.

He just posted up a video on Drumeo playing Black Sabbath “Fairies wear boots” - Bill Ward, another all time great drummer. Watch the video and see how much pure joy & fun he has playing this song. It’s awesome.

Man, to have even a fraction of this guy's ability would be so crazy. Being a drummer must really be enjoyable, I know when I really get into a song, I like to play the beat, just out of sheer enthusiasm, but to be able to actually play, and not lose track of the rhythm, must be pretty special. To do what Chad's doing, that's genius level stuff. I liked his version better too, even though I think this is my favorite song from BMTH.

Chad's decades of experience with RHCP and as a session drummer really shine through in this and his take on The Kill by 30 Seconds to Mars. He's the only one out of all the Drumeo vids who never took a full listen-through, he just jumped right in. It makes those two vids just an amazing watch that you can view over and over without getting tired of.

Same sentiment as you. I commented on this original video that Chads version is so much better. There’s more drive that adds so much more than the original

You should definitely checkout and react more drumeo videos..there's so many awesome artists who listened and played their version of the songs they've never heared before..

I heard Chad Smith’s version first and I agree that it better than original!

For a similarly mind blowing drummer in a different genre, check out Larnell Lewis' Drumeo and Zildjian Live content, as well as his performances with Snarky Puppy
