This reminds me of when the History Channel use to actually do shows about History.

"You might be a King, or a little street sweeper, but sooner or later you'll dance with the Reaper!"
- Death himself, Bill and Teds Bogus journey-

In Sedswick's defense; he was not actually in fact an elephant.

Wonder how many times his enemies “accidentally” misspelled Cnut

I sobbed when Anton Yelchin died. He starred in my favorite movie, Odd Thomas. The world lost an absolute treasure.

Anton Yeltsin also had cystic fibrosis which had scarred his lungs. Being crushed by the Jeep was pretty ironic as he was beating the odds for quality of life and survival  of that condition which claims it's victims at an average age of 29

I found out about one of the channels a few weeks ago and started binging some of the videos. Then i found out about all the other channels and was shocked by not just the amount of long form videos uploaded on a regular basis, but the quality of the videos. Each one has great story telling, amazing editing/visuals and i can't imagine the amount of the research that goes into each video over all of those channels. Great job, Simon & everyone who works on these videos. They are always interesting and compelling, regardless of the subject matter

the last one about Anton is so sad & I did not know he had passed, while not a massive Star Trek fan I did see the reboot & he did a BRILLIANT job as Chekov

Drowning in effluence? Sounds like sewercide!

I've known a few patients that die using the toilet. It's more common than you think. They can strain badly which puts enormous pressure on their hearts and such in its own right and then the final release of feaces, makes their BP just drop through the floor. It can happen by both or individually.

In the words of Agent K, "He just went home."

Where I went to college there was a waterfall, about 25ft tall that fell into a river. It was common for people to jump off into the river below. Well a well liked local guy jumped off one hot summer day. Head first, however what he didn't see was a trunk of a tree floating down river. He hit head first and sadly died on impact. The only reason I still remember the story because his last words was "Hey watch this".

As an honorable mention I submit John Eric Hexum from the 80's show Voyagers who shot himself in the head with a pistol loaded with blanks during a live interview.

All I could think of when he said Cnut was “she turned me into a newt” But he got better. Unfortunately, King Edmond did not.

Anton's passing still makes my heart ache every time I'm reminded about it.

PS: A perfect video for Brained Blaze

I was eleven when Tommy Cooper died. I remember Live From Her Majesty's and the fact he was going to be on it - but for some reason I never saw that particular episode. Of course, next day everyone is talking about it at school, and I felt like I'd missed an historical event.

Years later, I finally did see it and it's not nice viewing. I know it's been said he "died doing what he loved" but to be actually dying while people are laughing at you is terrible. And then the gradual realisation that something's wrong, and the awkward silence until the commercial break. Can you imagine sitting in the audience that night?

Elvis died on August 16. Three days later Groucho Marx died and his death was all but ignored. Dick Cavett (a friend of Marx) hosted a TV special about Groucho, the only one a network did while the other networks fell all over themselves doing specials about Elvis.

My uncle died on the toilet at 50. Alcoholism likely contributed to a heart attack. He'd been dead about two weeks before he was found. My mom and I had to ID the body before he was removed. I'll spare you the details but it was very unpleasant. Thanks, Simon, for triggering that memory. 😞

I believe that Garry Hoy's fatal mistake was that he did that running-into-window stunt multiple times on the same window. Over time, that repeated stress simply weakened the frame.

Anton Yelchin also had Cystic Fibrosis, so he had trouble breathing since he was a child. Most CF patients didn't live to see 40. It may be why he stuffed so much life into his 29 years. Or maybe he was just motivated and extremely curious and intelligent. Knowing he had CF, the fact that he was suffocated by his car is just super fucked up. (Also, I recommend "Love, Antosha" for a great movie about his life)
