Thinking of the reason why Twilight did it... Didn't that same idea come from the Kirin episode and they all learnt that locking the very thing a person is away to stop any potential conflict wasn't the right way????

Of corse sunny didn’t recognize misty. She was wearing glasses. Totally different person at that point. Superman approved

The biggest sin of this show, for me, was Opaline. That mare did NOT kill Twilight Sparkle. (I know “kill” isn’t the right word, but you get what I mean.) I can’t fathom how she could manipulate the ponies under Twilight’s rule. Man, I can’t even figure out how she manipulates Misty! She’s so bad at being a good villain. Send your one (SUPER incompetent) henchpony to do your bidding, watch them fail catastrophically, verbally abuse  them and emotionally assault them, and do it all over again seven times so that the ONE PONY on your side will turn on you when these friendship ponies befriend her. I’d hate Opaline less if she was kinder to Misty.
“YOU FAILED? DO YOU NOT KNOW HOW IMPORTANT THIS IS?!”
“I-I’m sorry Opaline.. I couldn’t get it…”
“Oh, Misty, don’t cower like that. I’m just looking out for us. ;) I need my power, just like you need your cutie mark..”
“R-right.. Right. You’re right!”
“I’m always right, Misty. And don’t jump like that, it’s unprofessional.”
Love bomb that pony and make her conflicted at the idea of betraying you, instead of mistreating her and expecting her to pick you instead of those who treat her well. I get that Misty wants a cutie mark, but COME ON.
I liked the parts where Opaline was critical of Misty, like with her maniacal laugh and her “don’t get attached to it” squishing of the mouse. It was less like a comedically blatant dictator and more like a terrible mother or a very problematic teacher. Opaline needs to care about Misty more, or at least fake it. Tirek never cared for Discord, but he pretended he did to get what he wanted. They needed to do that, not this. This Opaline could NEVER take over Equestria not because she doesn’t know about friendship, but because she’s so cartoonishly evil that nopony would ever interact with her. She’s TOO evil.

4:01 “are you seriously telling me that you failed to stop this villain and so now you are pawning off the responsibility to some group of ponies in the future and just hope they can handle it”
Celestia crying tears of joy “I’m so proud of you Twilight you truly are a real princess now”

I'm VERY confused by Twilight's cameo. Based on her appearance, she was still a relatively normal-sized pony when she recorded the message, so it must have happened not long after her coronation. If it had happened later, just based on how fast she grew to Celestia size in the finale of Friendship is Magic, then she would have had her Celestia ruler-of-Equestria appearance and flowy mane. Unless sucking the magic out of Equestria had shrunk her back down? Which I suppose an argument can be made for that. But basically Continuity = 0%.

Honestly, I think that after G5, what Hasbro needs to do is take another chance, find someone whom they can take a chance.  someone who plans, and builds like Faust did, someone who can take something like FiM, and the good parts of MYM (whatever they are), and boil down their essences, the barebones pieces that made them (and especially FiM) appeal to such a large audience / and run with it in a new direction, keeping those aspects in mind.  (and by those aspects, I mean things like the mix of slice of life, adventure, the humor, the character interactions/personalities/development, the world building, the way they listened to their fans, etc).

It wouldn't make a great show a certainty, but it would certainly make for something that has a chance of being awesome, AND appealing to a wide fanbase like FiM WHILE still taking things in a new direction.

I was disappointed by the lack of lore on Misty and Opaline. I was also hoping that the Mane 5 would have to deal with an actual challenge or be forced to confront Opaline. I wanted to know more about Misty's grief and experiences over not having a cutie mark. And Opaline's color scheme is still ugly to me and having her on screen with Misty only makes it more obvious how much it clashes compared Misty's color scheme.

Gonna' be honest here, it feels like all the stuff trying to tie G5 to FiM was never truly planned, and that it's all merely a desperate bid to keep all the people who watched FiM onboard with this new show rather than letting this new show earn a following on its own merits. And, fine, they COULD still do the whole "takes place in FiM's future but oh noes, everything went wrong" thing, but it's like they didn't even try to think of some sort of genuine reason, instead opting for the "Oh, let's try and find a way to tie the reason everything went south into our current Villain of the Season" route.

Like, they could have done something like, say, "The inhabitants of Equestria, over the generations, simply grew SO comfortable with and used to all the different races being able to coexist that they ended up forgetting the lessons and efforts that made that possible, and this led to an eventual reversal of things because everyone took that coexistence for granted".

The writers missed a HUGE opportunity to have Opaline pretend to be Sunny’s inner thoughts and slowly infiltrate and manipulate her. That would have been such a HUGE and AWESOME plot point.

I find what they do with Sunny dissapointing. I feel like she should be the heart of the group not just a pony tacked on. She should be more proactive. Maybe make her the one to get Zipp and Pipp to do stuff together.

Honestly I like the idea of Sunny wanting ponies to improve themselves . The veggie garden could have worked if Sunny tried to give incentives. Maybe Pipp would help Sunny with that.

A few more notes on the badness of this series:

- Why doesn't Zipp even suspect Misty to be the thief of the lantern after having been so suspicious of her the night before?
- So every single earth pony in Equestria migrated to Maretime Bay sometime in the past? Shouldn't it look more like Mega City One than a tranquil coastal town then?
- The different kinds of ponies broke away from another because... a unicorn injured an earth pony? That is what destroyed the unity between the species' that had existed for several generations? Did i understand that correctly?
- Why could the main characters lure Sparky with music? Was it ever introduced that he likes music so much? And how is his singing voice so loud that it resonates as far as the town? And how could Hitch discern his exact location by hearing him from a mile away? WHAT IS HAPPENING!?
- Why is everyone, who's not a main character, an annoying dipshit in this series?

I'm sorry, but this isn't okay at best, it's plain bad, and sugar coating it doesn't help anyone. I'm of the opinion that the sooner this show gets cancelled the better, because that way we won't have to wait for G6 as long. However, i believe G4 was lightning in a bottle.

I think this quote from Zipp describes this series pretty well: "So far it's all just dirt and glitter."

I like to believe this is a different universe. Honestly, i have never really liked any of the characters. The show doesn't make me happy like Friendship is Magic did. Hitch and Opaline were the only two who made me laugh.

Also, i wanted Misty to change her mind. Opaline was really annoying, and Misty seemed like she would change her mind during the sleepover. I would have liked it if she didn't have to go back to Opaline every episode.

The one thing about Friendship is Magic is that the villains would be defeated in the first season they are shown, which leaves character development for the episodes in between. (Of course the Villains would have character development to.) But this just is boring. The amount of times Opaline failed is a lot and she gets no backstory or anything. I wish there would be better villains and others in future seasons/chapters.

We all know Misty’s eventually gonna betray Opaline since the Mane 5 (and even Sparky came around to her!) treated her with kindness (and a fair dose of skepticism on Zipp’s part), but the progression between the episodes are doing a good job building up to it!
I have a feeling that once Opaline is revealed to have lied to Misty about giving her her Cutie Mark (and well, everything else) she’ll no longer have reason to stay with her and join up with the Mane 5 (and Sparky)!
I enjoyed all eight episodes, my favorite is the third (with Zipp and Pipp’s portrait day) because of the dynamics, songs, and message. It actually brought tears of joy to my eyes!

The thing about G5 is that it feels like the creators wanted it to be it's own thing but Hasbro forced them to make it a continuation of G4 which would explain the plot holes of the weather and day and night working by itself, and why Twilight removed magic for such a stupid reason without thinking about the ramifications of doing sooo... No... on second thought, something rash and stupid is definitely something Twi would do.

Holy sht the timing, i clicked on your channel and u just published a new video 26 seconds ago

For years, Sunny's wildest dream was reuniting the three pony tribes, so it shouldn't be surprising that she's aiming a little lower now.

Misty DID try to steal the crystals, but the elevator wouldn't let her up.

Also, how are the Mane Five supposed to discover Opaline if they don't even know where to start looking?

The entire series can be sumerised as "Thanks, I hate it"

2:24  The orange filly looks like rainbow dash and apple jack kid

Is nobody gonna talk about how Twilight’s appearance is a continuity error because she didn’t look like that in the last episode OR in the G5 comics? Why would they use her G4 appearance if it’s implied it was recorded after the events of G4?

Hope to learn more about Misty's history to how she end up with Queen Opaline in the first place as well as Queen Opaline's history too.
