Shout out to everyone dropping their theories in the comments, I’ve loved reading them and seeing your creativity!

If you're woundering how the equestria wasteland timeline came to be. It's probably due to the dragon from dragonshy not waking up. They, said if he isn't woken up. Equestria would be covered in smoke for 100 years. It's my theory due to all the other timelines were made due the mane 6 never being friends. If you look at the episode where flim and flam were introduced. They, lost due to twilight and her friends. And since there's a timeline where they won. It explains why this makes sense. In the dragonshy episode. The mane 6 went to go wake up the dragon. But, since they never became friends. He was never woken up. It explains why the dragon is responsible for the equestria wasteland timeline

An important detail of these timelines is that Celestia was able to defeat most of the villains. She is not useless or weak, she simply doesn't have the 100% win rate of the Mane 6.

I believe the wasteland timeline is actually the one in which Starlight wins (Mostly for the story value). We've established that the ponies are responsible for maintaining the cycle of seasons, weather, day and night, etc. from seasons 1-3. We see that ponies without their cutiemarks cannot do any of those things. So if starlight did successfully remove the cutie-marks from all of equestria, it would pretty quickly devolve into a wasteland.

Pegasi and Earth ponies being unable to control the environment is bad enough, but consider what happens when the alicorns and unicorns get equalized? We've seen that it is them who are responsible for equestria's day-night cycle. So the natural conclusion of this is that there would be no day night cycle anymore. I don't think equestria becomes tidally locked (that's what happens in the NMM timeline; only NMM rules on the dark side of the world), but I do think it stops spinning. This means that it's day length would be the same as its year length. Using Earth as a reference, that means 6 months of night. 6 months of day.

Such a planet would have no magnetic field, since without rotation there's no dynamo effect. That day length would also be impossible for existing life to adapt to, causing everything to die (as we see). With massive temperature differences between day and night, you get high winds (which we see). Without a magnetic field, the atmosphere begins getting stripped away, mainly water gets broken down into hydrogen and oxygen then the hydrogen gets stripped away, causing planet to become bone dry (as we see).

On a more general note, I also wish we got to see more timelines. We got Sombra, Changelings, NMM, Discord, Tirek, Flim Flam, abd Oblivion.
It's anyones guess what happened in oblivion, even if I think personally it's Starlights' timeline. But it'd be nice to get a Daybreaker, designated Starlight, Amulet Trixie, and Midnight Sparkle timeline.

I believe that in the Nightmare Moon timeline, since Twilight would've stayed in Canterlot, Celestia being defeated would leave her under the control of Nightmare Moon who also takes her in as a student. This is why I believe Nightmare Moon didn't immediately question who Twilight was as she knew her, just the version of Twilight without wings or friendship. Another way in the Nightmare Moon timeline could also be a way of Nightmare Moon gaining trust within the ponies as Twilight could be her advisor, yet again explaining why she didn't question who Twilight was and just wanted to learn the information on changing timelines. I also like to back this up with Nightmare Moon knowing how much Spike means to Twilight as she puts chains around him she would know this because Twilight has hatched Spike in this timeline too and Nightmare Moon could've seen just how much both Twilight's care about Spike

Nightmare Moon's alt line seems to be the most peaceful one

The wastleland timeline could have been caused by celestia becoming Daybreaker and destroying and burning everything. Also I'm pretty sure she wouldve wanted the sun to stay up forever, just like how Nightmare moon wanted an eternal night.
And this could very likely happen, if Luna can become nightmare moon due to a lot of negative emotion, surely celestia could do the same. I don't see a reason why not.
Also with villains attacking and equestria falling, it would be more than enough negative emotion for her to finally snap and turn into daybreaker.

Starlight was Angstrom Levy before Angstrom Levy

Ngl I always thought the wasted timeline was what if all the villains had a battle royale or something

Anyway does anyone else wonder what each version of twilight would look like in each of those timelines? I would LOVE to see sme fan art ngl

Clever thumbnail, Twilight's reaction to Starlight crashing out

Good video! I always enjoy the "canon" AUs of this show, I think in some sense its also a love letter to fans since long before this episode people have written about "what if sombra won" and stuff like it! Something about the Lunaverse I've thought about which is just my own thoughts, but if Celestia is imprisoned, what if she also would get released in the same timeframe as Luna had been, but this time she returns as Daybreaker who I feel like would be more powerful than Nightmare Moon? That world is doomed no matter how one looks at it! I mean a quick google search says how bad eternal night would be (probably also bad even in a magical realm, as more magic and less nature would need used and ponies would exhaust themselves) and then turn that into sudden eternal day lol

I did not expect a Spec Ops: The Line reference today while watching an MLP video but here we are.

What I think is peculiar is how each of Starlight’s actions in the past seem to shape a different future with noticeable changes in characters. And it’s different every single time!

Freezing/paralyzing Rainbow Dash in place creates the Sombra timeline (Rainbow has a prosthetic robot wing here)

Preaching friendship between Fluttershy, Hoops, and Dumb Bell and convincing them to play nice creates the Chrysalis timeline (You’ll note how Fluttershy here is more aggressive, distrusting, and impulsive. The bullies must’ve taught her to be more assertive instead of Iron Will.)

But what baffles me is how do the other ways Starlight interferes with the past create the alternate timelines?

Fighting in front of the kids, distracting Rainbow, Hoops, and Dumb Bell from their own competition creates the Nightmare Moon timeline.

Tripping up Rainbow creates the Tirek timeline where he obliterates everything.

Twilight freezing Rainbow Dash by mistake creates the Discord timeline where he rules all and Celestia and Luna are his personal slaves and jesters.

Starlight magically guiding Fluttershy through the flying course, impressing the colts creates a universe where Flim and Flam have industrialized and deforested everything.

And lastly, Starlight blasting Rainbow off course creates the Wasteland timeline, where Equestria is barren and everything is dead and ruined.

How do those other five actions create those individual timelines exactly? If anyone has any ideas on how it could work, I’m game.

Imagine timeline for pony of shadows, storm king, cozy glow, starlight glimmer, sunset shimmer, midnight sparkle, and terrible trio.

I thought my ears were deceiving me when “fine again” started playing, I love this song😭

The lore OCD part of my brain was always nit-picky, with this episode. Most the timelines, logically, can't be how they're shown: Nightmare Moon coming back would always be the first thing to happen, meaning things like the Changeling Invasion, Sombra's conquest, Tirek's rampage... They shouldn't play out in a fashion, that heavily suggests a lack of Nightmare Moon being present. Discord would likely also crop up, either much later on, or not at all, as it took conflict in front of his statue to break him free: This means that, most timelines, he'd either be abandoned, or broken out during someone else's war.

But they also keep continuity: Luna isn't present during the "Crystal War" timeline. Likewise, she period isn't present during most the timelines, even as Nightmare Moon, suggesting Celestia must have actually made sure her sister remained locked away. And Discord's timeline seems to be an outing where the sisters reunited, but he managed to beat them, this go around. They even doubled down on Sombra treating his ponies as slaves, with them full-on being enslaved soldiers, and shows that he warranted Celestia and Luna taking a direct hoof against him (Note how rarely they do that).

The "Wasteland" timeline is probably the most inexplicable, because it lacks any tells. It's, in my book, more just for thematic reasons, and a possible nod to Fallout: Equestria. After all, it gives off vibes akin to the Divide, and more barren hunks of the Capital Wasteland.

I still hoped that equestria was saved from sombra in that reality

The Cutie Remark is the 2 part Season 5 finale of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. in this episode, Starlight Glimmer, furious with Twilight for taking away her equality village after the latter helped the inhabitants of Our Town get their cutie marks back, decides to travel to the day where Rainbow Dash first did her first Somic Rainboom, which had Caused Twilight and her friends to earn their cutie marks at the same time after altering a spell created by Star Swirl the Bearded. Twilight and Spike tried to stop her but Starlight sends them to alternate futures.

They haven’t even been sorted yet and now the Gods of Chaos & Harbingers are here Starlight🕰🌌

I've seen pics that lampshade the last as being fallout equestria.  which basically had pip checking out their collective appearance in the background with VATS.  what I wanna know, is what eventually induced Glimmy to realize that every time she altered the timeline, it doestryed equestria.
