My controversial opinion:
spike was built like a microwave in the last episode and the princess anatomy doesn't fit twilight.

Opinion: Princess Cadence deserved WAY more screen time. Flurry heart too. They could’ve at least have her make an appearance in the last episode or something like that.

Opinion: Cadence and Chrysalis should've had a history with each other prior to the wedding, and I feel like Cadence should've been the one reforming the hive and Chrysalis instead of Starlight. They parallel each other very well with the love theme and thriving off of love. I feel like it would be a great way to show not only Chrysalis' "good side" (the side of her that cared for her hive) but also Cadence's bad and more selfish side. They could've used Chrysalis as a way to show how even as the princess of love, Cadence still lacks qualities such as compassion, sympathy and the likes for creatures such as Chrysalis or something like that. She's a very young alicorn just like Twilight so it only makes sense for her to also continue her journey understanding what true love is. It would've made her a more complex character and she wouldn't be hated nearly as much as she is.

I'm just glad that Starlight's redemption arc fixed her bangs

Spike shouldn't have had a crush on Rarity. Not that I don't believe in the concept of puppy love, I just feel like it forced Rarity to be a larger focus of Spike-centric episodes when a lot of times it felt like it really should have had Applejack and/or Fluttershy come in for a mentorship role.

Can people stop comparing MLP to Gravity Falls? It doesn't make sense, they're not for the same target audience. Gravity Falls is more aimed toward teens, MLP is aimed toward little kids/babies. It annoys me greatly, and if you want to compare the show to something, why not earlier seasons SpongeBob or even previous iterations of MLP.

My controversial take is, Pinkie’s friends were TERRIBLE ponies in the cheese sandwich episode. They just left pinkie behind and diddnt notice her at ALL! This has also happened many times within the series and sometimes I think that the mane six can sometimes be a little toxic to Pinkie.

"Sometimes punishments are needed to deter bad behavior" Cozy glow being thrown in Tartarus aka hell despite being a child: Exists. Goes double for Discord, a god of chaos whos existence is based on being a counterbalance to harmony and Tirek who got his backstory shoved into a comic when they could have just had any old flashback to his father basically bullying him: EXISTS.

3:39 this is like comparing an apple to a chocolate bar, completely different things. 😅 mlp is a show that is made specifically to be about friendship and about love, and it’s dark topics are tackled in single episodes to be learning opportunities for its typically younger audience, only plot lines as main character traits are carried over throughout seasons. But gravity falls is a mystery show which has a focus on a linear story that doesn’t dilly dally, almost every episode is deliberate, there’s maybe one episode which isn’t, which is the road-trip episode, but everything else all leads to the end with character development, relationship development, mystery development etc. their run-time is also completely different. Kinda dumb to compare them.

My controversial opinion: Cadence and the Crystal Empire had a lot of untapped potential! When I first saw it I thought we would introduce a new type of magic Twilight couldn’t control so we could learn more about it other than unicorn magic that has new rules as it goes along such as “we can’t generate hair with magic” it would also give cadence more power if she was the only one who could control crystal magic and give us more of a reason to return to the empire!

Unpopular opinion: bronies got way too comfortable expecting to be pandered to and seem to forget that they were never the target audience of the show. They invaded what should have been a safe community for tween girls and turned it into the textbook example of a horrible fandom.

This is coming from someone who was part of the target audience when the show started airing btw.

People will inevitably/predictably disagree but, in my opinion they should've made more episodes that focused on Big Mac and Sugar Belle's relationship. I mean even now, I still don't think their relationship got nearly as much development as it should have.

Controversial opinion: Shining Armour is actually a pretty intresting character, and I feel like hes underused in the show. Hes in a few episodes but he was never as reoccurring as other side character.

7:05 Yay! Martha is back!

14:59 An F-Minus collab in MY Star Strike video?!?! The world must be ending

I did have a second controversial opinion and it was more like an epiphany, the kirin should have been introduced before the school to actually include all creatures. Yes they were seen in the last episode but having a kirin for she school protagonists I feel would have solidified the group more

About the whole thing with Starlight's redemption, that whole argument kinda falls apart because of Sunset Shimmer. Like Starlight, she also no longer had intentions with being evil again after getting her ass kicked by rainbow lasers, but she still experiences consequences for her actions through being a school outcast for a while, consequences and punishments are different, I'm fine with Starlight not getting a punishment, her actions were pretty much undone, so they technically never existed, but consequences though, especially for how she enslaved and manipulated her village before, she didn't experience enough, if any, even that very same village forgives her almost instantly. Meanwhile Sunset spends 90% of Rainbow Rocks being hated by the entire school.

As someone who appreciated Sunset's redemption arc, Starlight's just felt insulting.
I still like both characters, but Starlight will always have that sting of "getting off scot-free" That'll keep me from having her on my favorites list
