Young people of today will never understand how this BLEW PEOPLE'S MINDS when it came out in 1966.   Groundbreaking!

This was the 60's,  crazy

Brian Wilson was a genius.

This was blasting out of every car radio in 1966.

It has got so many layers to this song. That’s why it’s so good.

"I don't know where but she sents me there" instant goosebumps. What a masterpiece.

Watching you both start smiling at around 1:23 is what The Beach Boys music is all about. It just makes you feel good

Paul McCartney and also Brian Wilson are, in many musicians and the fans, two of the greatest melody writers of all time. RIP Brian

The quintessential Beach Boys song.  Really demonstrates their harmony skills.

Good vibrations, 1966

They came out 1 year before the Beatles and they focused on the California surfing craze of the early 1960's. Brian Wilson was known as a musical genius and the Beatles saw him as a great competitor

It's crazy that to young people the 90s and the 60s are indistinguishable...

Brian Wilson is one of the greatest musical composers of the 20th century he is an absolute genius

Pet Sounds changed my life

Beach Boys were from Hawthorne, Ca. A  Southern California city just inland and borders Manhattan Beach ; , north of Redondo and “Haggerty’s” in Rancho Palos Verdes  are part of the South Bay, adjacent (roughly) to Hawthorne and surf spots/beaches mentioned by name in “Surfin USA. Hawthorne is part of “South Bay” cluster of cities hence ,,The Beach Boys
That iconic photo with them in the yellow vehicle on the beach was taken at Paradise Cove, Malibu Ca, (famous surf spot “The Hut” located there) which is North of Hawthorne along the famous Hwy  1, aka “PCH” or Pacific Coast Hwy.
California Historical Landmark 1041 marks the site of the home in Hawthorne, Ca where they stated their musical journey .
Sir Paul McCartney lived they’re music, admired Brian Wilson’s genius, particularly the French horns and composition of “Hod Only Knows” from their landmark “Pet Sounds” album  which is a genius album in its entirety. 🏄 🌊 🎸

this song was so advanced for its era

Brain Wilson was a music genius, he would spend days mixing a song, never made a bad record Rest in Peace dude

The beach boys had so many big hits. They were the American Beatles. More beach boys please?  Try  help me Rhonda or their last #1 song Kokomo.

“This is like three songs in one.”

Brian Wilson was a musical vanguard before being a musical vanguard was a job description.

So many production innovations in this that were way ahead of the time. He used modular recording insted of the standard linear. Recording short segments at a time, across several studios. He actually physically spliced reels of magnetic tape being the first to essentially "copy and paste" decades before digital made it commonplace. It abandoned the standard verse-chorus-verse structure of pop music at the time and added different moods and textures. There were complex harmonic shifts. song moves fluidly through multiple key and chord transitions, alternating key and chord transitions, alternating dynamically between minor and major tonalities. Plus the use of unconventional intruments and styles.

60 year old American man,  I have to say how happy it makes that we enjoy the same music.  😊
