Brian Wilson called it his "Pocket Symphony" -- and that's what it is. Pure genius! We'll never see/hear the likes of this man ever again.

Straight up masterpiece. I never get tired of it

Brian Wilson was just 24 years old at the time of Good Vibrations release. And younger brother, Carl, was just 19 when he sang lead vocals on God Only Knows and Good Vibrations.

Man, so blessed that i grew up in the era of harmonies!!

I grew up with this music. We never considered this rock. To us it was surfer music.

We experienced the very best Music growing up in the 1960s, 70s and 80s
That era is STILL PLAYED on Radio more often than not.

Supposedly after hearing this song, John Lennon said "How are we going to compete with that?"

@michaeltipton5500 2 months ago

The Beach Boys were known for their switch up and layering.
Now you know why us older folks say, music today just sucks.

Fun Fact: The 'Wrecking Crew' worked on this song, they talk about it a lot in that documentary on the 'Wrecking Crew'. Brian Wilson literally spent a month working on this one song with the those studio musicians. Which kind of accounts for how it came out to be such a master piece....the best studio musicians in the world worked on it with genius Brian Wilson directing every step.

The great Glen Campbell (and member of the wrecking crew) said when he first heard this song it blew his mind. He'd never heard anything like it.

"Then the song ends?" Welcome to radio friendly 3-minute masterpiece class.

That's the "song that sent The Beatles on the "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" path and sent the Rolling Stones into their "Sympathy for the Devil" direction. All the icons loved this song...me too.

When you actually sit and give this song your full attention, it’s pretty mind blowing. It shouldn’t work but it does. All those different components put together made magic

I like the use of the Theremin in this song to give it a little other worldly sound.

I think a lot of younger people see the name Beach Boys and are immediately underwhelmed. The name fit in the mid Sixties when they did a lot of surfing/hot car songs and all the while polished their incredible harmonies. But the Beach Boys evolved and over time you begin to notice the genius that was inherent in all of Brian Wilson's work. You picked a good song to introduce yourself to the group but there are literally dozens of other songs of theirs that are worth listening to.

Brian Wilson was a groundbreaking musical genius. He did things electronically with the music in this song that had never been done before, and many tried to copy. He said he could hear all this in his head and was consumed with it until he gave birth to it. Pure genius, a blessing and a curse in his life.

If this song hadn't had a big impact on you I would have questioned your credentials as a music lover. One of the most iconic songs in all of rock-n-roll.
