Honestly like the slice of life aspect more then the evil ex battles. Just everyone hanging out Scott getting his shit together and getting a job the flash backs

OMG IS THAT [insert fictional character]

She was 17 scott

Fun Fact: From what I heard, the idea of a Scott Pilgrim movie was made after only the first book was released, so the rest of the books were made during the film's production. Bryan Lee O' Malley, the author of the books, was against it at first because of how Hollywood usually deals with adaptations of books. But at the same time, he also needed the money. During that time, the author and the filmmakers were looking at each others work, not wanting it to be similar to each other. This is why some parts of the story in the movie is completely different from the books, such as the fight between the Katayanagi Twins, and the final fight with Gideon.

So called free-thinkers when she was 17

what i really enjoy about the franchise, is that usually we see this fantasy x action plot with a younger, teenager cast, and i think its sweet we get it for 20+ yos too

I wouldn’t say he worked, necessarily, he was extremely unemployed.

Edit: this video’s original title was “Why Scott Pilgrim Worked.”

That "She was 17" meme is low-key gatekeeping an entire generation from reading an actual good story with a valuable message

It's like that Ramona Flowers song all over again

i first read scott pilgrim like 8 years ago and have been watching video essays since then and i think you're the first person who's ever actually verbalized my feelings on the books, particularly the lives of kim and knives and everyone else

Choopo - Fake girlfriend Knives
Bro understands the character better than all the people making the 17 Scott joke

I never should've checked the comment section.

Ahh..the scott pilgrim video god i love you choopo twoopo, in the parasocial way

She was 17, Scott….

Hearing that you say the movie lacked the depth of the comics is hilarious to me considering the two properties were being developed side-by-side (it's probably why the knee joke is given to two different character between the comics and movie).

If i remember right, the movie development wrapped first, so Brian O'Malley actually had to decide how he wanted to end the comic – follow the movie or come up with a difference ending.

For all the new viewers, you got to get familiar with the original media and then this video will make alot more sense.

She was 17 Scott.

28:17 Not Kim. Kim's development and the closure she finally gets from Scott's relationship during the entire sequence where Nega Scott shows up is one of the most overlooked elements of the whole series. I still think no adaptation has done Kim justice.

SCOTT PILGRIM MENTION🫎🫎🇨🇦🇨🇦🍁🍁🍁🎸🎸

27:10 this is why i believe that takes off is an adaptation of the original game. in the game, beating the game as scott nets you a bad ending, whereas playing as ramona gets the good ending from the books. it’s commonly believed that this is because you defeat dark scott like any other boss instead of making peace with him in the game.
