I feel the show needed more episodes or longer episodes

i'd say the pacing of the comics is a better comparison, they're much more slice of life than the movie

I don’t care if it was imperfect. Getting a Scott pilgrim project years after the movie with the original cast in an animated format was incredible

wallace needs a bigger role fs

Idk why YouTube is recommending me tiny creators with barely any comments, but I'm liking it. This is top tier content that easily deserves 300k+ minimum views and a healthy dosing of likes.

this series was my introduction to the franchise - it was the first, then last thing i watched (rewatched after reading the comic & watching the movie lol)
tbh, it was always my favorite take on the story & what resonated with me most!
i also didn't really feel alienated by the self referential parts, i did gain more context after reading the original story ofc but my newgen opinion is SPTO itself had everything it needed to have if it had been the only thing scott pilgrim i'd ever watch & that's what hooked me into wanting to see the og story
great video tho :D <3 just my 2 cents 🪙🪙

I feel like the show was just set in some alternate universe for them or smth...

I feel like one way to look at Scott Pilgrim takes off is that it’s more like a sequel then a adaptation of a already existing story, that’s how I look at it. Yes, it does feel weird to me, but if you read the comics, and then you watch Scott pilgrim take off with the perspective of it being a sequel, then exceed very well, although I swear they turn this whole Scott Pilgrim versus the world into a actual franchise, I might actually explode.

I wish they would give it another go and follow the comics

7:00 As someone that watched Takes Off only being vaguely aware of Scott Pilgrim in general and never having consumed any content of the franchise. Actually no, I did adapt fairly well. Obviously there are jokes I didn't catch until getting deeper into the IP, but in general it still wasn't that alienating

I didn’t mind the show actually

7:21 Personally as somebody who had never heard of scott pilgrim before the show, I thought the addition of this movie set was great. I just thought it was going for some sort of meta storytelling, but once I realized it was an actual movie, this addition got me to watch the movie.

I really wish they made a comic version of the Netflix series story

oh my god im so glad to see a video talking about the actual flaws and not just the same 4 complaints about how its a new story

Why are we stil doing movie comparisons and not comic book ones?  The only vid I've seen try this was UrickSaladBar, who's video is full of errors that are easily debunked by just READING the comic and attempts to portray the anime as an improvement on the characters.  Which is an insane take when you consider how sloppy the handling of scott and ramona are done in takes off.  100% ramona would've ran and not even attended the funeral for scott, and anyone convinced otherwise clearly forgot why 6/7 exes that aren't evil actively have a bone to pick with her.  Also the idea that gideon loses to patel is maybe the dumbest thing I've ever seen.  Like imagine lex Luthor being dethroned by Toy master and us as an audience needing to take it seriously

I've only seen the anime, and as a first impression at least it was amazing. I understood that Scott Pilgrim was supposed to be the main character and him losing at the start was not supposed to happen. But I really enjoyed the love story. Scott fell in love with Ramona at first sight, so I'm not sure if there was much development on his side of their relationship, but knowing this is a parallel story, I saw Ramona slowly fall in love with the man shes searching for to try and make things right. She seems like a great main character, like a normal person or background character that was all of a sudden thrown in this role for the first time unknowingly and is nailing it.

My response to this video (I think it’s great and brings up good points) is mostly that the show is fun. Like from an analysis perspective yeah a lot of the characters don’t do anything to forward the plot and themes but I don’t think that’s unintentional. The show is more concerned with creating a fun world with likable characters. I liked the fact that they were making the Scott pilgrim movie in the show, not because funny meta humor, but it highlights that in the show you get to see a level of depth to these characters you don’t get when focusing solely on Scott and Ramona’s dynamic. Wallace doesn’t really do anything because he doesn’t have a job to fill or a role to play, he’s just being himself. It feels real because these people have lives outside of the narrative and maybe that’s not as satisfying but it’s human. Takes Off is definitely weird because it’s a show that’s not really interested in telling a story, it more feels like watching a what if episode which highlights the world building and the characters more than it does the actual plot. Anyways my point is, most critiques of the shows pacing story and themes are totally valid, but I think it was an intentional choice to make something new and different for Scott pilgrim, and I think that’s pretty cool.

Yo imma follow the main comment and say I didn't even realize it was a small channel, good job dude, specially the mic, the sound is very clear on phone

I like the anime the least out of every Scott Pilgrim iteration, I do think it has good moments but the books are just better. Like one example of something I didn't like is how in the anime they made Lucas an absolute beefcake when he was in highschool dating Ramona, but in the books Lucas was a skinny guy with long hair who only got buff after dating her, or how they removed the glow thing that represented self centered hatred.

Absolutely fire video keep it upppp❤❤❤
