Yes, it’s been less than 2 weeks and I’m back with another banger at midnight. And I’m gonna have ANOTHER one for you before the end of the month. We’ve got some incredible videos in the pipeline. Go listen to my podcast: https://www.youtube.com/@glhf-podcast

Please Austin. Don’t delay it even more.

The best NPC glitch is when a rollerskater randomly spawns out on the beach.
Because the game is sophisticated enough to know that you can't rollerskate on sand, and when a rollerskating NPC hits sand (or grass I guess) they will fall over.
So the NPC on the beach will get back up  and just fall over again and again because the game is not sophisticated enough to have the NPC take off their skates and walk away from there.

These poor souls are like Sisyphus, born into the hell that is a beach when you have small hard plastic wheels under your feet.

My brother's girlfriend once told me a story of a time when she was lost in Miami. She literally found her way back to her hotel with nothing but her memory of Vice City. She was actually able to guide her way toward the general direction of that hotel based solely on personal memory of this primitive, highly condensed, ps2-era interpretation of Miami. Thats fucking amazing if you ask me, especially for a game this old.

There is a VERY real allegory to be made in the first minute of the video about the Commercialization of the 80s vs the actual 80s.  The hyperpop color schemes were mostly in adverts and movies, however, everything was much more "brown"

Please look into LA Noire, the map is massive and much more closely based on 1940s LA than rockstar games usually are to their reference cities

A bunch of NPCs helplessly approaching the scene of a horrible crime before wandering off, unable to effect any positive change, is actually a strangely realistic depiction of Florida

18:33 THESE ARE BASED ON A REAL PLACE, they were built to make/sell moonshine during prohibition or something along those lines, outside of international waters, or some county line.  They were made illegal at some point, and many sit abandoned. look it up! Miami irl location

I remember playing GTA: Vice City late at night when everyone was asleep and I'd enter some mall or like an inside area and start getting this uneasy, backrooms type feel and leave immediately lmao

With the cops chasing those guys in leather jackets, there’s a curious unintentional tidbit. When an NPC gets killed, there’s often an ambulance dispatched to the location, and the paramedics can even revive them. So I’ve seen once or twice them locking into an endless cycle: a cop kills a guy, paramedics come, revive him, the cop starts chasing him again, kills again, paramedics revive him again… and that continues until something breaks the cycle… or not.

The abandoned Sprunk factory in GTA IV immediately springs to mind, I loved exploring that place at night and scaring the shit out of myself when I was younger. I was convinced it was haunted.

Factor approving an ad where you forgot to do one of the main things (eating the food) and also showing a picture of their logo in the literal garbage is very amusing to me

You missed that meat house which is selling human organs on full display, and few blocks away you see a two dugged grave in which one has human skeleton laying in it .

The best part of San Andreas was turning on the radio and getting on the freeway and just listening to the sound track. And not getting stuck in traffic.

No greater sponsorship segment than showing the product's branding in the trash lol

I'm glad you touched on the textures used for shopfronts, especially those in the mall. One thing that has fascinated me about GTA 3 - 5 is knowing that the images used for these shop textures are, more likely than not, photos taken by Rockstar's location scouts. In some of these shopfront photos, there are times where I've noticed actual people within them. I think about the fact that these seemingly unimportant textures are comprised of employees and shoppers who may or may not still be living but are now forever immortalized within a moment in time that was captured by some random photographer on a regular day, 10-20 years ago.

It makes the games feel a little more eerie but also more lived in when I think about that aspect of the environmental design of these games.

The green cross at the "Dispensary" is because using the red cross is actually a violation of the Geneva Convention for some reason.

I didn't consider 'NPCs are gathering around a corpse to help' when I was a kid playing the game. I simply figured they're curious.

How will you calculate the employment rate of vice city when there is just one guy having all the jobs?

0:01 "Grand Theft Auto VI is coming out next year" Independent fact checkers have determined this statement to be dubious.
