What specific detail from Holmes's story is going to stick with you tonight?

@mads5033 11 months ago

@BluffingtonPost 11 months ago

Is it just me, or are a lot of the "monsters" in this series have the misfortune of having abusive parents.. an alcoholic physically abusive dad and an overzealous religious mom..

The ad placement here made me laugh out loud
"a man with an insatiable monster living inside him.. a werewolf.. A CHILD WITH COLD HANDS"

I feel like game The Devil in Me is a fantastic example of how HH Holmes has become a myth that just diverts so much from what he actually did and really caused him to become a legend instead of just a regular guy who did evil things for awful reasons.

Why would you EVER send a 14 year old to look and confirm a body? Even if they did think it was a stranger's body and not actually her dad's! She should not see that!

@nicolemaria913 11 months ago

Wow...this was a heavy one. A true monster in every sense of the word. And those poor children. Disgusting amd heartbreaking.

This is how they’re going to talk about the big E a century in the future.

Hey just a small nitpick as a history student, you made a small mistake in your phrasing in the opening, the turn of the 19th century refers to the beginning of the 1800s, not the 1900s. What you’re referring to was the turn of the 20th century (my general rule of think is +1 to the year). Sorry, just a small thing I have to correct when I see it 😭 amazing video regardless

I typically skip over stories about him bc there's so many & once you've heard a few you've heard them all. I don't know what made me listen to this one but I'm glad I did😊 Great job!!!

44:20 INSANE graphic design for Pinkerton’s Detective agency lol that goes hard

6:45 That's a really interesting way to put it. I think fairytales were actually about people and other real dangers, but the stories were made fantastical as to be memorable for children. The children needed to be taught about the dangers of the world, and fairytales were a way to do that without making the lessons boring or forgetable. That's why I love stories & myths & legends. They show values & fears passed on to the next generation by a group of people. There are universal themes & area-specific themes. There are modern ones & outdated ones.

Nah f that. I’m mad that his final wishes were respected. He didn’t respect any of his victims.

@PrettyAliceNight 11 months ago
