Niki FREAKED OUT while they were kissing. If that kind of behavior/reaction doesn't immediately kill the mood for you and stop you dead in your tracks, you are a kind of broken I have no words for.
I think the scene where the real Nikki comes out while wish Nikki is asleep and she begs Bear to kill her and his immediate response is “ what’s so bad about being with me?” really just completely solidifies the fact that Bear is not a victim, he is the abuser, the villain, and a disgusting, worthless pile of garbage.
The night he made that wish, he was willing to have sex with her… even tho he assumed - at the very least - that she was drunk and “fucked up". For me, that was the moment he became the villain. Thanks for calling this POS out .
I think the most fucked up thing though is that he claims that anyone would decide to rape their friend if they thought they were strung out on drugs or too drunk to be coherent and that it is 'normal'.
OK i'm sorry but rape does not have to do with intent, it has to do with lack of consent. Even if you intend to have consensual sex with someone, if they refuse, and you do it anyway, that is rape. Similarly to why child sexual exploitation is rape because they cannot consent. Nikki's consciousness is being overwritten by Bear's wish so she cannot make a choice, even if her body controlled by the wish consents to it, she cannot, so it is, in fact, rape.
HOW COULD IT BE OPTION A? Bear literally asks his wish at the dinner table word for word and she says, "Yes", confirming his wish. And even if it is "option A" taking advantage of someone under an influence is still wrong. Like what? This guy is disgusting.
Thank you for staying consistent on calling this guy out. This shouldn’t be forgotten, he needs to be deplatformed. SO many incel’s on YouTube have made videos saying Alex’s take was the right one, so now he’s got more people spreading his misinformation bullshit. I’m so disgusted with these men it’s not even funny. PLEASE keep calling him out!!
He says Bear has “literally no idea” the one wish willow worked until the dinner scene and even then he didn’t really know, but doesn’t talk about the scene where he goes to his computer the very same night he snapped the willow stick and Nikki came home with him and looks up if the one wish willows were real. Telling us Bear definitely knows it could be the wish. Also when Bear calls the customer service guy, he says “is it real?” And the guy says “yeah it’s real” and Bear says “no, I know it’s real, I mean her love, is her love real?” So Bear was LITERALLY SAYING he KNEW the wish was REAL!!! I love how he calls us stupid for watching the movie as the director intended it to be watched😅 It’s mind blowing how some of these weird ass men took this movie to mean something completely different than what it actually did. It’s honestly sick.. and scary. As someone that’s been SA’d by a “nice guy” EXACTLY like Bear, it boils my blood seeing these dumbfucks make excuses for him and downplaying how evil Bear truly is. It’s so disgusting.
"People like Bear" 🤔 I thought Bear was supposed to represent the regular guy that the establishment accepts as perfectly normal. Isn't the whole point of the movie precisely to make us think about how we've normalised guys being like him and that we shouldn't? Bear's not a rare case and that is the freaking problem
Thank you for bringing up that option A isn't any better. I went into Obsession blind. I had a visceral reaction. Not because of sexual paranoia, but because of a history of sexual violence. People who are willing to excuse Bear show how little they care about another person's autonomy. It genuinely worries me for their current/future partners.
There’s something I haven’t seen many people talking about that I think is INCREDIBLY important to point out to guys like this who try to excuse Bear’s actions: Bear is shown to have a complete disregard for the wellbeing of the living things around him right off the bat in a way that has nothing to do with him being an “incel” or a “nice guy” or his violation of Nikki’s consent.
Bear throws his dead cat away in the literal GARBAGE within the first five minutes of the movie. That’s not something a person does when they’re trying to say goodbye to a beloved pet, that’s something a person does when they’re trying to dispose of a problem they don’t want to think about. That’s not even to mention how the whole reason the cat died is because of him neglecting to feed her until she broke into the pill bottles looking for food.
I sure would love to see these Bear apologists try to rationalize his animal cruelty, even they have to realize how bad that is, right?
