You know what's crazy? His ex-wife is a Japanese woman and the two of them LIVED in Japan. So his ignorance regarding different Asian cultures is...well it's something.

the constant sexualization of the monster high girls is SO fucking weird considering they’re in HIGH SCHOOL!! THESE GIRLS ARE TEENAGERS 😭💔

"She won in the first movie, why didn't that fix systematic racism?" Is an insane take but I'm not surprised by it

A man who defends and identifies with a character who disregards another human being's autonomy for their own selfish desires is concerning as hell to me.

"girls talk about their periods all the time and heres proof!" movie about a girl who JUST started puberty so shes discussing this new experience with her friends as it comes

I feel like he's a grown man who just never grew out of his age 12 edgy phase

The turning red discussion around 9/11...I was in Canada, in 8th grade. I'm sorry,  but no, we were not in fear the way he seems to think we were

He deleted the obsession video thinking everyone would forget it, but now evb is noticing all of his flaws 😂

the 9/11 critique for Turning Red is crazy because they're all Canadian and most Canadians weren't  TOO worried about terrorist attacks as the US was already in conflict with the Middle East and Canada was not.

who the hell watches a children's movie and thinks "man theres not enough representation of 9/11 in this movie" HUH?????

The stuff about turning red actually had me so mad.
I get it isn't everyone's cup of tea but I really felt like it was a good representation of what that stage of life is like for a young girl and it did a great job with a lot of the nuance of generational trauma, to boil it down like that feels like a way to minimise media made with women in mind.

monster high dolls were my entire chiildhood. people who see fishnets and heels as sexual are the problem. people who see fashionable "lightly dressed" dolls as sexual are the problem. just cause something is wearing a miniskirt does not mean it's sexual... monster high is so iconic and people who see them as inappropriate and sexual ARE THE PROBLEM.

5:09 monster high was a doll collection but also a fashion doll, it's not sexual it's just the fashionista era of dolls what the hellsss. his commentary on mh is so condescending

“Why is it playing such triumphant music?” Because Hiccups befriending a creature he was told his entire life that will not hesitate to kill him on sight, the music is called “Forbidden Friendship”.

“Why is Astrid so upset?!” Because Hiccup was immediately established as the town loser that couldn’t do anything right and now he’s suddenly a dragon master winning every trial, it was pissing her off.

“Where’d he learn all this stuff about the dragons?” There is literally an entire montage like 10 minutes before Hiccup wins the opportunity to fight the Monstrous Nightmare of him studying and learning the dragons quirks.

“The dragon’s fight their mother.” The Red Death is described as a queen of a beehive, the regular dragons as workers, nowhere in the film is the word mother used to describe her. HTTYD 2 establishes alpha dragons can control the regular ones through emitting a mind control frequency via a low sound, roaring, or intense unbreakable eye contact.

The main theme of the first movie is “Everything we know about dragons is wrong.” HTTYD is my favorite movie franchise, I’ve loved them ever since I saw the first one in high school, they’re not very hard movies to follow.

I was there after 9/11. It wasn’t like that lmao. Tween girls weren't worried about terrorism. They were worried about N*SYNC and The Backstreet Boys.

Sexualising Judy who is a female in uniform,

it's very telling that Alex doesn't view Judy as anything other than sexy bunny in a uniform and not as a female in a position of authority,

i acc will not tolerate monster high hate do NOT play with my girl clawdeen..

I wanted to say that as a woman i really enjoyed Turning Red and not even once thought about period during the watch of it. Female puberty is something more then just period and Red Panda is representing the whole - which are the hormons, which cuase the anger in us to boil, the pain we go through during this time and all the other issues connceted to growing up. The movie itself tells a story of a girl that is growing up and trying to understand all her emotions, trying to tame her anger and a generational trauma that she faces

7:10 OK, first off, they're showing off the girls' shoes, not their feet. They're based on fashion dolls, so it makes sense they'd focus on their clothes and accessories.

And second, bro talking about foot fetishes like we didn't notice he animates ALL his little characters—including his self-insert—piggies out for some odd reason is some crazy work.

Dude, Alex talking about G1 Monster High is just him being like every parent who thought the franchise, designed for older kids - pre-teens, was satanic because of their style. The whole point of the franchise, from the original creator himself, has always been to be yourself. The initial slogan is something I wish I could get tattooed onto me "Be yourself, be unique, be a monster", so hearing him objectify these characters who were meant for the younger generation to feel good about themselves is appalling.
