The idea of the total loss of agency over oneself is genuinely one of the scariest horror concepts

I find it so interesting that Bear is Nikki's childhood friend but he never stopped to question her behavior. Everyone else was uncomfortable and suspicious because she was acting nothing like who she was before. She abandons her dreams, her whole life revolves around him, etc. And he doesn't stop at all? It's just so selfish it drives me up the wall.

I love the fact that Curry Barker confirms that the one wish willow isnt inherently cursed, that the curse comes from a wish that is in itself a cursed wish to make, it reflects the person who made it

In the scene where Nikki was in the corner, crying “like it isn’t mutual” I thought for a split second, if Bear truly loved her, why didn’t he spring up out of the bed and comfort her? I thought that if my wife was having a breakdown in the middle of the night, that would be the first thing I would do. He did not love her. He loved the idea of her.

The real Nikki definitely was trying to raise the alarm at that party. She fought so hard to break out so SOMEBODY could help her

The idea that some men think bear is the victim is why i think society is doomed 😮💨

My girlfriend put it perfectly "if you don't understand that Bear is the monster in this horror movie then YOU are Bear in real life".

His cat's death directly foreshadows Bear's demise, he drops dead in the exact same spot with the exact same cause

21:44 Uh, SIR, you forgot the best part of that scene: the moment where Freaky Nikki tries to walk it back and claim she's joking, notices that nobody's buying it, and petulantly says, "Okay, I meant it. Deal with it."

How funny that he immediately felt some type of way about her cutting his hair w/o asking, and wasted no time in confronting her about it... meanwhile, he has altered her ENTIRE LIFE AND PERSONALITY w/ not one thought to consent!!!😒😒😒

Even with the narrative that bear didn't think the wish was real, if i'm kissing someone (that just said their father died mind you) and they just suddenly jolted away from me horrified, i would think they might not be all there mentally. Even in a generous, non supernatural, view of this movie, Bear is taking advantage of a clearly mentally ill girl that needs intensive therapy

Nikki's monologue at 25:30 almost felt like wish Nikki talking to the real Nikki, telling her what it would be like to either die or to fully lose control to wish Nikki..

The wish 'Nikki' is like an AI, it knows her life/memories but has one directive: love him. And moving forward it doesnt get context, like Bear 'loves his dead cat', or 'just stay here'. I feel like the weird monologues were mixed up passages from Nikki's writings. And then Bear treated n scolded her like an AI girlfriend cause thats all he could go for 😂

There’s a theory that cats are the perfect depiction of consent; if they want to be held, they let it happen. If not, they’ll claw you. The fact that Bear loses his cat from neglect… not surprising.

A pivotal moment for me is when, right at the beginning of the film, Bear goes to purchase a crystal necklace for Nikki after she expressed disappointment at losing hers. The gift would have been nice, non-creepy and romantic and ultimately would be for HER and not him. But then he abandons that idea and buys himself a wish to rob her of her agency, effectively choosing his own desires over her own needs.

He didn't ask Nikki what kind of crystal she lost with the necklace, so he could get her a similar one. Neither did he think about what crystal would be a sweet gesture (somethings symbolizing protection, success for her writing, anything). That was when it was clear he didn't care about her as a person at all

To me it seemed Bear was actually delighted to hear Sarah likes him. If Nikki hadn't smashed the window and killed Sarah, Bear would have kissed her. He is the scum of the earth.

When l saw the movie l overheard a young guy who had just seen it: "Nikki really got the short straw. All her friends are murdered. She got taken over out of nowhere and now she's probably going to spend the rest of her life in jail."
Neatly sums it up.
Neatly sums it up.
