telling an aroace person "dont knock it til you try it" reminds me of what some men have told me as a lesbian. disgusting and predatory.

as a transsexual woman who's mother literally helped her get on hrt i couldn't imagine having a parent who LAUGHS at your identity, parents are supposed to protect you from bullies not be your bully at home.

I'm 40.  I'm nonbinary.  No, it's not "just a phase".  I hope they can find people who are supportive, cause their parents sure aren't. 🙄

I don't think the first person sees children as people

As an aroace person, we get asked "why" a lot. Cus people will think we are the way we are because of trauma or hormonal issues. You wouldn't ask any other person if they have trauma that caused their sexuality, so why is it so normalized to ask us about ours???

As a fully out nonbinary lesbian whose mother described them as "beautifully queer" when called by some military recruiters i feel so bad for that first child holy shit

Exciting news everyone, I've been on testosterone for two months now! I'm so happy!

My parents laughed in my face when I tried to express my mental health issues as a teenager. Safe to say I never talked to them about anything deeply personal ever again. All they get to know about me now is all I'm willing to share with a stranger.

I just know these redditors will be insufferable and I'm only starting the video.

I'm asexual and when I came out my parents were super supportive (they didn't really know what Asexual meant but they supported it either way). I feel so bad for these people. Also I'm not aroace and I am married, to an ace woman, which did confuse my parents when they heard about it, but again they supported it

That last one, definitely not the asshole. That's just setting boundaries.

As a dad to a little girl, that first one hurts my heart so much. I can’t imagine how a parent could hear their child coming to them and trusting them enough to do something as brave as coming out in this fashion, and laugh at them. How could you not be loving and supportive to your child in such a vulnerable moment, and to actually laugh in their face? I hate that mother so much.

"AITA for laughing at my child being vulnerable and not caring that it made them cry?"
Hmmm, very difficult post we got on our hands here, guys

will never understand people hating on aro/ace people (i don’t understand homophobia in general) but aro/ace people are literally just existing?!??

6:27 She was just chilling in her room, bothering nobody, and that was somehow a problem!?! Sounds like the ideal roommate to me. Hope she found new roommates who aren't awful

my parents are genuinely so much like the first one it hurts so much to have your own family laugh at your community and identity . ( also im coming out tonight wish me luck ✌

2:00 I really love how you worded this, that is a very good point. I really hope that mom gets her priorities straight -_-

As a cis white male, I find videos like these really helpful. They give me a chance to listen and better understand perspectives and experiences I didn’t grow up around or learn much about. I really appreciate you putting this kind of content out there!

22 and asexual here (and nonbinary, but that isn’t relevant to this comment). I am in a relationship and very happy about it. However, we do not have sex. I did try sex, and I did not like it. That being said, you do not have to try relationships or sex to know you don’t like it. OP in the one about her aroace roommate pisses me off. This whole thing could’ve been avoided if OP had just gone “oh okay my bad,” even if she didn’t understand it.

as an aroace person people have said to me i am weird for not liking anybody and i should just date someone and everytime it happens it pisses me off that people can't accept that i just dont like nobody i can't just date someone i find no attraction to anybody
