For the second one: statistics actually show that kids benefit more from having parents who are divorced than having parents who stay together despite not loving each other anymore.
You know, what I worry about in the second story is, even if OP does divorce his wife, she'll still be serving a parental role in the son's life, so the danger of her sending him to conversion camp will still very much be present.
For the second story my main concern would be the son’s safety (and potentially the daughter’s safety if she turns out to be gay as well) during any split custody time with mom. I would say to consult a lawyer about that, though depending on where they live and what the laws/family court is like, it’s possible the son can choose his own custody schedule or at least voice an opinion. At the very least go for maximum custody of both kids.
~3 days ago i started drinking water until i feel satisfied and it's totaled to around 5 or 6 big cups of water a day. i have a lot less brain fog, but the constant bathroom trips are annoying 😭
Parents who think that don't respond to logic or facts. I was raised Catholic and in a stable two parent household. My mother and I were having a discussion the other day, and she said that I had been taught a different "doctrine". I was like, ma'am, I was raised Catholic, in México, in a fully Catholic family on both sides, went to a school that still offered end of year Catholic mass for students, one year in an actual Catholic school, I got my confirmation ceremony, my XVs Catholic mass ceremony, I even went to a university that refused to teach us IN MEDICAL SCHOOL about abortion and BIRTH CONTROL, because it "went against the bible". Literally I could hardly have been raised in an environment that would make it more likely that I would stay within the Catholic faith. But what I was taught is critical thinking, and I realised that those values don't connect with me. I have learned and researched and met people and I know better. And I did spend a good amount of time giving her facts and reasons based on tangible and measurable results. And yet she still refused to acknowledge any of it. "Maybe, but that's not been my experience and real life I've seen". Ma'am. This is not a debate. We're talking about actual, demonstrable results. Large scale results. This shouldn't be up for debate. And then she said I was too stubborn and inflexible. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I'M BEING CALLED INFLEXIBLE BY THE WOMAN WHO THINKS THAT NOT SHAVING YOUR LEG HAIR IS UNSANITARY?? ARE YOU BEING SERIOUS RIGHT NOW?!?!?!?!
The mom didn't look into conversion therapy. She wanted it as soon as she heard that she could do it. The worst thing is, she still wanted it despite OP telling her it is harmful and traumatic to victims meaning that she was willing to hurt her son to "fix" him instead of supporting him. OP should absolutely get a divorce and fight for full custody or supervised visits with the mom. He also should be transparent with his son if his son doesn't already know this about his mom.
the one about the guys family shaming and making his son cry is absolutely INSANE to say or do. IMMEDIATELY cut ties with them. the fact that they think that someone is "wrong" and should be molded into what they want is so selfish, and evil
Me and the second story is very similar. My dad super supportive but then my mom didn’t take it well at all, crying, threatening to take her own life multiple different ways and I accepted that in that part of my life I don’t really care about what she thinks. It’s my own life, now that I’m 18 I have every right to live my life however I want to.
I can not express the amount (it’s almost concerning) of love I have for your hair. I have spent hours and hours my own home screaming to the heavens “GOD WHY CANT I HAVE A GOOD FACE SHAPE TO GET THIS HAIRCUT” It happens so often that I’ve been kicked out but it doesn’t matter if I can’t have such an amazing hair
The last story reminds me of something I went through with my grandparents when I was younger. My grandfather actually ended up getting physically aggressive with my mom, but she still stuck up for me and continues to even though I'm older. She also goes to pride festivals with me. Love her sm
I don’t know much about divorce laws but for second story if the husband provides enough proof he might be able to get custody of his children and they wouldn’t have to see their mom I think that’s how it works and the daughter and son would be safe
