Story 1: Say it with me, chat. "Never date somebody whom you feel you need to hide your stuffed animals from"

@79mib 7 hours ago

Quick rule: if you’ve decided to “teach” your partner “a lesson,” you’ve already effed up

@janine1986-r7c 6 hours ago

OP 1: mom and dad made a face b/c you explained in a sarcastic and nasty way. They were saying "WTF did we raise" to themselves.

@hecklinjekyll3959 7 hours ago

"I just wanted to prove to her that she didn't need it anymore."

Well, you proved she didn't need something anymore, alright.

@scorpionbraid 7 hours ago

OP 1 is like the men who date goth women and the women who date punk/metal men. They get off on "fixing them", but only after they've gotten to annoy their family and impress their friends.

@MehblehMusic 7 hours ago

To quote thw 4th doctor from doctor who, "whats the point of being grown up if you cant be childish" genuinely words to live by right there

@voltrontrash558 7 hours ago

RE: the first story and men who date whimsical women, that's exactly why they do it. They want the power trip of breaking a woman down into his 'ideal wife'.

@loganhowe9496 7 hours ago

"I technically didn't do anything wrong." Notice the wording, *technically*. He is, on some level, aware that he is in the wrong and trying to justify himself on a technicality.

“A blanket isn’t a normal thing for an adult to have around” hits the same as “it’s gay for a man to wipe his own asshole” lmao like?? The mental gymnastics to arrive that these takes is impressive.

@schrodingerscat3741 7 hours ago

It's perfectly normal for an adult to have specific things they need to sleep. He only thinks the blanket is weird because 'security blanket' is stereotypically associated with children.

@alexsoares5739 7 hours ago

For the first story: I have an old, kinda disgusting whale plushie I made with the fabric of an old pair of pants I had. It's made with an specific fabric that helps me sleep (I run my fingers on it until I fall asleep. Sometimes I use it when I'm feeling too anxious/nervous). It's the same fabric of an old plush I had when I was a small child, which helped me with trauma back then and still helps me nowadays. I bring it with me when I have to sleep out. If someone threw my whale away...

I feel like people don't understand throwaways anymore... it's not "because my gf knows my main account," because if she reads reddit then she'll recognize the story no matter what account?

@HackiePuffs 7 hours ago

Even if the gf’s blanket wasn’t a gift from a late family member he’d still be the ahole for shaming her for having a comfort item and I’m glad most people seem to recognize that. Also GF sounds like someone I’d genuinely hang out with!!

@StarrChild. 4 hours ago

The last story scares me as well. If she was blackout drunk, she cannot consent to anything. Even if she's telling the guy to kiss her, if she's blackout drunk it doesn't count. I once knew someone in college who, whenever he'd get so drunk, told people to hit and slap him. We don't because we know he's not in his right headspace.
Obviously, we can't know for sure but with the OP even saying she was blackout drunk it just feels really icky.

@MorganVsTheInternet 7 hours ago

1- “AITA for pretending to throw out my girlfriend's blanket?” YES! If someone has a comfort item that they keep with them who are you to decide it's “embarrassing” for them to have?

@yumi_9600 7 hours ago

Story 1: unfortunately, yes, some people are the kind to treat their partners like an exotic bird collector that puts them in cages.

Even more unfortunately, it’s even their intention to seek out “exotic bird” partners so they can break their partners down.

@TheIncredibleKangaroo 6 hours ago

The Blanket: Good Lord. I'm so glad the girlfriend kicked OP to the curb. He had no right to do any of this.

@TheeFlumfy 5 hours ago

God, this reminds me of the redditor who LITERALLY BURNED his girlfriends blanket, then had the audacity to act shocked when it caused his girlfriend to get upset. He inly made it worse by first lying to her about not knowing where it was and then trying to replace it.

Then there's the dude who threw out his girlfriend's vintage Meowth plushie and the dude who threw out a very important culteral item of his girlfriends (she's Native American)

@UsagiZakura 6 hours ago

"I technically didn't do anything"
He hid his girlfriend's property, and then lied about it... so that's two things he did. Each one is a dump-worthy offense.

6:31 it's the same reason some guys go for women who don't want kids and try to change their mind. It's because they want to have that level of control over their partner, to take something important away from them, or to manipulate/force them into changing.
