Trees are too busy yelling at trees to realize the forest is being clear-cut.

as an immunocompromised person who is disabled i would rather lose one night at a bar that makes accommodations than lose the bar entirely

As a queer disabled person, I don’t knock them at all for having a few days that are mask optional. I support it actually. I understand why some people would be upset about the change, but the intensity of anger toward the bar feels out of proportion.

I don't think it's fair for patrons to dictate how the owners run their business when the changes they demand are essentially putting them out of business...there has to be room for compromise.

As a queer disabled person with an immunocompromised partner (and potentially lightly immunocompromised myself) this is insane, anyone who was harrassing the owner, claiming they are racist, shaming them for crying about being HOMELESS, etc. is insane and disgusting, having multiple days of masks is super ally already and it is insane to expect them to have one day without requiring them and just suffer losses.

This whole thing feels like something 14 year old me would find extremely important

as a lesbian from massachusetts i can’t believe this breached containment. like i knew these people existed but fox news wasn’t supposed to find out

The thing that gets me is that it's all blown up over a 'single' night in the week. Not all nights. Just ONE

13:35 "white tears" does not automatically apply to every time a white person cries while in an interpersonal conflict with a person of color. I think talking about being unhoused is a good reason to cry

I haven't watched the video but people need to ask themselves why a lesbian bar in the middle of nowhere was making national news over masking. If the answer you come to is anything other than propaganda to make the left look crazy as the US gets closer to a major election then you're not paying attention.

I just hope the bar gets the funding it needs at this moment.

The thing is when (unfortunately not "if" lets be real) this place closes down, there won't be a replacement or a different queer crew opening a new space, it'll just be gone. I can't say what the venue will be used for but i know for sure it won't be a lesbian bar. So everyone calling for more inclusion will ultimately get less and they won't even be happy about it because they're perpetually miserable

People need to bring this energy to big companies that are actually ableist / racist, not some small business trying to survive. Not everything will work for everyone and things that help some, might actively hurt others- they are doing their best and trying to make it work for everyone.

Get this heat on the big companies that have the finances to actually make a change and don’t even try.

I am the first person in my bloodline to read the words in that title in this order

SAying that mandated reporters are agents of the state is the wildest thing I've ever heard... Does this person think social workers, teachers, childcare professionals are all cops?

These people might take the cake for the most insufferable group I've ever seen.

I'm a disabled lesbian and I find it incredibly hard to communicate with people with face coverings, be it masks or sunglasses etc. I happily wore my mask through the worst of COVID, and encouraged others to do the same, however I would not seek out a social situation in which masks were required.

Just a reminder, SMOKING marijuana is no longer the only way, nor the best way, to treat pain. Edibles, ointments, and even pills are more controlled forms medical marijuana use that do not hot box your child...and also better for your lungs.

Something that needs to be remembered in conversations about disability accommodations is that the accomodations for some disabilities inherently make things less accessible for other disabilities and it's impossible to make any situation accessible for everyone (example: what do you do if you have 1 person with a life-threatening dog allergy and 1 person who depends on their service dog to cope with a life threatening condition of their own when both people need access to the space? You can't have them both there at once and it's not fair to any like one need is more important to the other. So you have to find an alternate situation that works for both, such as staggering/scheduling them for alternate dates with significant cleaning in between). Pretending otherwise doesn't help anyone and just puts disabled people against each other. The answer is to create situations with flexibility, alternating accomodations that are mutually exclusive on a regular basis, and prioritizing based on the consequences of not.

Nah, that one person feels like a provocateur.
