It was a love letter to the Philippines. I loved it so much. I lived in the Philippines for a bit in 2002 and 2004. I really miss the people, the culture, and the food!

As a filipino, I love how we’re represented, but more than that, the story can stand up on it’s own pretty solid. Halfway through the movie I already forgot the movie is referencing filipino culture because I found myself drawn by the story itself. So no, I like the movie not because it’s filipino, but because it does have a good story and doesn’t use our culture to solely promote an original animated film. 8/10

Seen it already. 10/10. I'm a middle-aged man (and yes, a 90's teen), yet this movie made me tear up. It may have just beaten Puss n Boots as best Dreamworks animation in my book.

Someone said that the name of the island,  Nakali maybe  from the Filipino word Nakalimutan which literally means forgotten.

Also the manananggal is very different from the folklore version, they usually have their lower body part removed with their entrails hanging out, it might be too scary for children.

Some parts of the Philippines actually got to see it earlier on the 19th.

Just watched it last Sunday. It was so good and the story is really solid. The main characters has so much depth and the Nakali island was introduced so beautifully the creatures are very diversed. The animation is top notch and very visually appealing. Even the side characters are very well made and they all compliment each  other. This movie is very much recommended.

I already watched.. so so good. Just bring tissues for tears

I'm excited to see forgotten island from the directors of puss in boots: the last wish.

The Oscars will see quite competition for this year with two strong front runners.
Forgotten Island and Wildwood.

I entered the theatre with some doubts... I went out satisfied! It's living to its high ratings from various review sites!

It came out in New Zealand on the 17th, i watched it with my friends on the 20th, its a very good movie!

The demon woman is not the one that feeds on memories, the trailers make you think that.

I live in New Zealand - and it was so nice to see Philipino people at the cinema - many came with several generations of the family :))

Forgotten Island
Congratulations
All The Best and Success

That vampire villain was terrifying, she was relentless in her pursuit, go watch the film and you'll see what I mean

there’s so much more about filipino culture, legends, myths, etc that a lot of animators can create

love this movie

I've already seen it last sunday and its sooo good I wanna watch it again

The world premiere happens in Ottawa this Wednesday, at the Ottawa International Animation Festival.

For years we were quiet and waiting in line,
But Forgotten Island is our time to shine.
No longer a project of hoping to grow,
It is eighty million USD put right on the show!

A massive endeavor that Hollywood took,
To give our own voices a masterful look.
Authenticity pays and our story is grand,
But only if audiences actually stand.

If we stay at home for a streaming embrace,
We drop our own mic and we forfeit our place.
Today is the Sunday the box office speaks.
You cannot delay this for upcoming weeks.

We claim that we want our own faces on screen,
But words are just whispers unless we are seen.
A ticket is proof that our culture is thriving,
The fuel that will keep our own cinema driving.

So rally the family and call up your friends.
Get out to the theater before the night ends.
Go message the group chat, assemble the crew,
Grab your barkada, this moment needs you.

This could be a one-off or start of a trend.
The power is yours as the weekend will end.
Let's fill up the seats and let Hollywood know:
Forgotten Island is where we must go!

Saw it!!
Got teary-eyed at the end!! Manananggal was SCARY AS HELL!! LOOOOVET!
