What the narration didn't mention is that Britain abolished slavery and that the Royal Navy fought slave trade ships.

It often makes you wonder what the world would be like if the British had never existed, the technology and inventions they have given the world, would they have been invented without the British? Would people have even had the innovation or intelligence to invent half of the things the British have given the world?

The clue in name. 4 countries under a United Kingdom (ran by same royal family/sovereign kingdom). There's old saying in UK "United we stand, divided we fall" each separate hold own strength but fight side by side to help each other. It shows in sport too

The hospital I trained at in London was founded in 1123. I live 2 miles from the Greenwich meridian where one can stand with one foot in the Eastern hemisphere and one in the western hemisphere

Born and raised in Oxford, walk past these buildings on a daily basis without knowing the full history of them and taking them for granted really…Obviously growing up in the area the local schools did teach us the basics about the history of the city and take us on day trips around the university but I’m sure there’s still so many interesting facts to learn about them 🧑🏼‍🎓

I come from Wigan, the accent changes every couple of streets 😂

Fun facts. The earliest known king of England was 927, but Scotland and England became joint kingdom in 1603 when king James VI of Scotland inherited the English throne.

We in the UK, are surrounded by The Gulf Stream which gives us warmth. I'm Scottish and it's true that there are Palm trees here. There is a Palm tree in the garden in the next street to me but in the Scottish island of Rothesay, they have loads of Palm trees.

When they were deciding what time it was in space, for the purposes of international collaborations, they could have repositioned the prime meridian. It was too much hassle, though, so GMT is now also UTC.
Honestly, you don't need to drive anywhere near 30min to hear a different accent in the UK. People from villages less than 10 miles apart can sound noticeably different.
