Honestly i just wanna give a shoutout to Gargona. Girl refused to throw in the towel after god knows how many seasons and honestly, i respect that.

Fun Fact: the character designs are all based on the portraits of Gustav Klimt. The King and Queen are from the painting “the kiss” while Gargona is literally the lady with snakes. The world building itself includes the blue spirals and triangles always present in Klimts works.

Actually, Mia and the other ''elves'' ARE actually fairies, it's just that in here Europe, we use the terms ''elf'', ''fairy'' and ''pixie'' interchangeably to describe magical hominids

HOLY SHIT! AS A GIRL WHO GREW UP IN FLORENCE ITALY, WHERE THE SHOW WAS SHOT, I GOT TO MEET VIOLETTA CUZ SHE WAS A SENIOR AT MY SCHOOL WHILE I WAS IN THE SIXTH GRADE. MY TEACHER EVEN APEARED IN MANY BACKGROUND CHARACTERS. I can’t believe you are talking about not only a gem of my childhood but something that my school was involved in holy shit.

What I always got from the show growing up is that the world wasn't exactly real? I think Mia's parents made that world for her, as well as the bracelet, and the reason it expands alongside her is because it revolves around her. It starts basic, elves vs weird woman, then expands as Mia explores. Like a minecraft map, it only loads in more chunks as you venture into those chunks. That's always how I understood it, at least.

Mia and Me was my ultimate escapism show. I would constantly dream about being Mia and having the ability to travel into this fantasy world, especially flying, I wanted wings SO BAD. That moment when Mia finally manages to fly properly was EUPHORIC and it still comes back to me every now and then

13:26 Well, in the movie we discover that Mia's mother was an elf, and she asked an elder from Centopia to make this bracelet so she could travel to the world of Mia's father, who was human and fell in love. It's also revealed that Mia was born in Centopia, so elves can travel to the real world, but they lose their elven characteristics to resemble the species of the local world, just as Mia loses her human characteristics when she travels to Centopia

I used to love this show so much. Me and my best friend used to be the 'imaginary magic world' children and this really fueled my imagination. Maybe it's partly because of the fact it's both real actors and animation, which made it seem so real for me. And the art is just stunning.

"IS HE UNICORN JESUS???" Is not a phrase that I was expecting, but summs up Onchao pretty much! And Loved this show even with it's flaws because it's honestly very fun to wacth

The creator of the show, Gerhard Hahn is german, and in german the word "Elfen" refers more commonly to those little insect-winged people, so that’s why they’re called elves instead of faeries or pixies here.

'How many of you who grew up watching this show were horse girls? I bet you watched Spirit' That was a scarely accurate call-out.

Mia and Me, a German children's series created by Gerhard Hahn, originated in Germany or Austria. Upon further research, it has been confirmed that the show is indeed of German origin. Currently, Mia and Me is wholly owned by Studio 100, a Belgian company, through its German subsidiary Made 4 Entertainment (m4e).

I was so upset that Vincent didn’t get to go to centopia but violetta did 😔😔

Fun fact: In my first language, Polish, Mia and Me is called Mia i Ja. Mia i ja is pronounced Mya Iya, so it rhymes and even better, it sounds like kids pronouncing horse's neighing in Poland. Idk if it's a horse girl easter egg or if it's just an accidental thing, i love it though.

The whole unicorn harem thing is actually based on real horses, especially in the wild. There is one main stallion and he has many mares, but he usually has one main mare and they share responsibility. with the herd and protecting❤

What i love about this is that they use real unicorns from mythology for design, not the bullshit horses with horns crap that north american media portrays them as. The cloven hooves, the long lion like tail, and the more slender and elegant horn <3 it made me so happy to see!

Something I didn’t realise when I first watched the show is that the visual style of Centopia is very heavily drawing from Gustav Klimt. The king and queen look like they’ve been ripped straight out of one of, if not his most famous work, the kiss.
I’m really curious why they did this? It’s not everyday you see a kids show trying to mimic the aesthetic of an Austrian painter’s work.
It might be something worth noting in your next video, because now my interest is piqued (that and because I never saw past the fist two seasons, but that’s besides the point).

On your point of the "cutesy girly stuff", you were right, like i also felt weird watching the show after that bc i was in my "im not like other girls" era (also the girls my grade suddenly decided that cartoon were for kids and they were big girls now watching big girl shows like zoey 101). Luckily i had a little sister so i watched it anyways while pretending i didnt like it lmao

I miss this show. I completely forgot about it as I got older. I’m so glad you got to cover this topic.

I always loved how it took awhile for mia to fly. Most main characters understand the world they get transported to instantly, and its more realistic that she wouldn't know how to do everything instantly.
