I hate that Roland never actually acknowledges how he treated Cedric. Even when Cedric calls him out, and Sofia and Miranda point out how they could’ve all been nicer to him, he just talks about how having a famous father is hard but doesn’t mention or apologize how he treated him.

Another subtler, more insidious aspect of Baileywick's day off is the fact that all these mistakes are happening the second baileywick leaves. Like, the entire staff is SO reliant on him telling them all exactly what to do and how to do it that when he leaves they make obvious mistakes. Like is red cookies instead of pink ones an emergency? No, but that also feels like the kinda blunder that wouldn't happen under Baileywick's watch. He's so integral to everything running smoothly that i imagine if he left for any longer the castle would actually fall apart because eveyrone in it has grown too dependent on him (except probably Cedric) so even if he wanted to leave he couldn't.

Okay, but in defense of Sofia's weak defense of Cedric. She's, like, 10 years old at most. I feel like people can forget just how underdeveloped a child's brain is, especially when it comes to logical reasoning and causality. "But he didn't hurt me, so he can't be all bad," is actually such a childlike thing to say. I'm not surprised her reasoning is very simplistic and naive.

You know how King Roland says he's stuck with Cedric because he comes from a long line of royal sorcerers?
Cedric is stuck with the royal family for the same reason. And even if he wanted to leave and work for another castle, the King has basically ruined that for him by disrespecting him in front of other kings.
'If your current boss hates you so much, why would I like you?'
That's how the other kings would think if he ever tried to become their sorcerer.
Also, Cedric looks like he's 8 in that flash back. 8! One mistake that wasn't even his fault ruined his life at 8-years-old! Imagine your father is an artist and when you try to copy him you spill paint on his most famous piece when you're a child, and everyone says you'll never be a good artist because of it!
8-YEARS-OLD!
No wonder he became a villain!

Honestly I can get Cedric. If I was treated like less than for so long I would want revenge too. They're lucky Sofia and basic human decency were able to get through to him or else I'd honestly be rooting for him a bit

Baileywick saying "make it work" is a reference to Project Runway, because he is voiced by Tim Gunn.

Growing up is reailzing that Cedric should have overthrown Roland's ass and that Baileywick was a bit too dedicated to his job.

I actually get the idea that Baileywick sees the children as the closest he will get to having children. When you say it like that, it makes sense that he would derive enjoyment from caring for them, including sacrificing his birthday.

I think baileywick grew up poor, and his way to make it to the top of the pile was enforced perfection, gartered by fear that the failures of 'the other poors' would drag him back down from his position of relative safety and comfort.

Can't wait to watch this at work. The episode about Bailywick missing hanging out with his brother always frustrated me. Like man, I know you see them like family, but these kids need to learn to be compitent (they did not need his help with those butterflies) and ask other people. You see them as family, but there's no work life balance here. He's all work and stress. Same vibes as the servants happily singing "they'll keep partying until we drop".
"Can always Count on Bailywick" is a bop tho.

For Cedric, it says a LOT that literally one person showing basic human decency was enough to make him give up a life of villainy and stop attacking the others that still haven't shown him any.

And that's why Cedric is a good written villain. he had ACTUAL MOTIVATION.

34:38 Instead of Cedric grovelling for forgiveness, I would just have him apologise for his actions but then swear his loyalty solely to Sofia as the only person who ever treated him with kindness & respect, so that in the end Roland no longer has a sorcerer by his side & he has to accept that he only has himself to blame.

You know what I always found funny the fact Cedric was more of a father to sofia instead of roland

I hope Baileywick gets paid enough for how much overtime he puts in

“It’s not my fault sire. It was the childreeeeen~”

Me: bombastic side eye

Beileywick is actually a perfect butler character to me. Butlers aren't normal servants, they're the manager of all the other servants, he's responsible for absolutly everything in the castle: not just in logistic but also in training. He's not a very nice boss, but that's very in character for a master butler, he has to get his teams straighten and honestly, if it wasn't a baby show they could have made him alot more cruel to the staff.
If you look at any 5 stars hotel reserve behind the scene documentary, you'll see a ton of Bailleywick. He's not here to be nice, he's here to be efficient and take care of the royals, their kids, their friends and the castle and garden. They really made him a great manager character to me.

Enchancia is really a dystopia the more you overanalyze it.

Cedric got so stressed out he got Marie Antoinette syndrome(from what I recall) it's when you become so stressed your hair turns white

I love that Athena started with 20 minutes videos and as you scroll to newer videos it looks like she’s getting crazier as her videos slowly grow in length
Love her so much
Thanks Athena!!!!!!

I want to say a few things here

- The Cedric treatment is very sad, but to be honest, its realistic. When the highest authority in the King see him as incompetent, then so do other people and often, they don't even realise how he feels or how they view him might be affecting the way Cedric acts. Sofia's innocence as a child shows Cedric what everyone else should have shown him : kindness.

- Baileywick is also at fault here. I agree that the family should not be fully dependent on him, but Baileywick COULD have said no and no one would have blamed him. He is so eager to please, that he wants that validation from the royal family.
