Literally cried 4 times

I think one thing that is resonating with people is how dark the world has become. These ladies showed up, as this light, when a lot of us really needed something so positive.

I’m a 25 year old man who knows nothing about K-pop and I’ve never seen the movie or heard their music, but I read somewhere about this woman Ejae and how her dream her whole life was to become a K-pop star and she started at 11 I guess, worked for over 10 years, and at 23 she was rejected and told her voice wasn’t “pretty” enough or “soft” enough to be a K-pop star. So she gave up for a while, and was broken. Then she got hired for this movie to write melodies and lyrics for the songs. But they heard her singing on the demos she sent in for the movie and asked her to be the lead. So I decided to look up them performing this song life and heard it for the first time. I literally cried😂 I noticed very quickly the song is 100% personal and about her life and her experience always being rejected and hiding in the background because of that, and now has her chance to shine. So in a span of like 15 minutes I went from knowing nothing, to reading an article, to watching the live performance, and then having tears rolling down my eyes and being a fan😂 legit chills.

It's an emotional song, I DJ most weekends and I have a rock band that performs one of their songs in 4 different keys so its not unusual for anyone doing that, people have made such a big deal about her A5 note so she's getting lots of completely irrelevant comments.  Clearly she's the BEST, by far, of any vocal talent today.   Have a good day.

Yeah, I’m a big guy and I cry at the bridge every time.
I really prefer this step down version with less production.

The song "Golden" ran the table... won Critics Choice, Golden Globe, Grammy, and Oscar. Congratulations EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami! 💛💜💖

This performance IMHO locked Grammy nominations for Golden.  Audrey called Ejae generational talent. 🎉❤. Harmonies are stronger than recording ❤

When you know the stories of these three amazing singers, your admiration just grows.

Imagine the tears when this wins Grammy's...and then Oscar :)

Ok. Normal guy here and this song does something to me and I tear up. It’s so good on so many levels. Stunning all around.

I'm a guy and watching their performance on the tonight's show made me cry too, I absolutely love this song, and to hear them nail this song soo perfect doing it live, gave me goosebumps when they sung all the high notes and did it perfect 😀

As much as 'Golden' dominated 2025 and this year's award season, it would be nice if someone could also react to Ejae's older solo tracks, some of them sung in Korean. Her tone, timbre, her breathing, and that magical lower register and her insanely organic vibrato in 'Once Again' are just magnificent, mesmerizing... but nobody talks about it. She has a singing voice to die for.

i love the pauses!! its nice to hear you break it all down and also express how the song makes you feel.  amazing reaction.

Her low register notes are exceptional because of the build up to the high moments. It illustrates her range so well.

Idk if you now Ejae story but its amazing.

Ejae trained for 10 years to debut, but was rejected. She was told that her voice would not sell and she was too old.

So after being rejected she become a songwriter for other kpop artist.

When Kpop demon hunters was being made the producers brought in Ejae and another person to write the songs for the movie and soundtrack.

The producers casted Rei and Audrey as the singing voices for Zoey and Mira, they started looking for Rumi sing voice. The producers couldnt find anyone they liked for the singing voice. Ejae was singing the demo`s for the songs, the producers fell in love with her voice, they offered her the role as the singing voice for Rumi.

Know she has 5 grammy nominations. She sang and co wrote one of the biggest songs in kpop history.

It's easy to cry. Especially if you know EJAE's story.
EJAE was accepted into SM Entertainment's Idol Training system when she was 11 years old.
After working very, very hard for over 11 years she was dropped and told her voice was too dark and she was too old to debut.
She got a music degree and stayed in the K-Pop game as a songwriter and producer.
As co-songwriter for many of the songs in KPop Demon Hunters, EJAE recorded the demo tracks.
The producers looked but couldn't find a vocalist that could match what was done on the demos.
The decision was made to use EJAE as Rumi's singing voice. The rest is history.
GOLDEN hit #1 in over 25 countries. Is nominated for a Grammy, and favored to be nominated for an Oscar.

I also cried hearing that, and I'm a guy. EJAE is literally shining

This song's lyrics are very emotional,  implicitly implies about a past full of struggle, and  rejection but focus on the present,  and that now it's time to shine as we should be.

Really enjoyed this response! I do think EJAE might hit that A5 in a live performance before awards season ends, but she doesn’t need to.

Lowering the key means she now has to deliver a C3 in the bridge and still hit a G5!

EJAE just opened the FIFA world cup with Andrea Bocelli
