The erasure via "fun" shows like dating feels especially targeted in this political climate. If the only stories shown are LGBTQIA+ tragedies it's literally erasing queer joy imo

Gay people... exist?!?!?
- every tv and movie producer

BBC not being LGBTQ+ allies? IM SHOCKED.

presenting queer shows = virtue signaling

cancelling queer shows = innocuous budgeting issues

lesbian media getting cancelled what’s new 😭😭 (tears of pain)

Thank you for making this. My friends and i have been talking about how it feels like the public sentiment toward queer people (and women) has been getting worse and worse. Feels like maybe we peaked around 2014 and since then manosphere rhetoric has just taken over the internet.

When i was in highschool and my early 20s (15 years ago) it felt like things were on an upward trend for us as women and gay people. And now i dont know how to re assure younger queer people that it will improve soon enough for it to matter

I miss college feminist book club 😔

As always with media controversies, it turns out the bad guy is the BBC.

Whoever made The Boyfriend was probably a BIG fan of the coffee shop AUs and decided to make it a reality lol I don’t blame them, I would too if I got the chance

Ah you can't blame them for getting it wrong, it's hard the BBC to find the resources to make shows for queer people in between calling all trans people predators and saying their human rights are bad

As a cishet male, I am mostly here for the cow.

I’m like so starved for WLW I take ambien just so I can watch “portrait of a lady on fire” like it’s the first time again.

7:07 as a nigerian, this made me double take and laugh out loud! Subomi is a Yoruba name, pronounced Shoo-bow-me :)

"Younger guys aka himbos" is that what they called them? Because Himbo is just a buff guy who is nice and kinda dumb. It doesn't have anything to do with age and most of those guys barely have any actual muscle on them...

2:50 Fun fact: I worked with the team at ITV that developed this show and the developers told me that when they created the show, it was named after the Katy Perry song but they just decided to make a male version first! So your assumption was in fact, correct :3

Props to the producers who did the impossible and made a lgbt dating show that didn't throw biphobia in your face every five minutes.

Because it was mentioned, while I don't listen to all of your content, I am in many ways a very straight, white, cis gendered man (52 currently). But I was adopted at birth & raised by a gay man, & grew up learning about Civil Rights activism, & participating in activism for Gay Rights.

But the reason I listened to this, is because I have a single friend that I game with, for most of my sobriety, so almost 20 years, who is an autistic gay woman in England, so I wanted to hear this & then ask her about it, if she ever followed them. She may have cuz she's gay, or she may not have cuz her autism has very strict likes & dislikes, & she can't dabble in entertainment that she doesn't wholly enjoy.

She's very funny, & I am deeply grateful for her friendship over my sobriety. My own mental illnesses make relationships hard for me, but she's always been very patient & supportive, & I do the same for her.

truly the beginning of the end for the relationship between Ro and The Cow.... wow.... truly one of those moments when people will ask where you were when it happened..........

queer ultimatum was gas tho i almost never see wlw representation and in particular  season 2 was very compelling and interesting

I really recommend Germanys first lesbian dating show, Princess Charming. It's a lesbian version of the Bachelorette, which is kind of unfortunate, but still really fun to watch. It might be on the Internet somewhere with English subtitles. There was a gay version, but it got cancelled because the men in it where really messy as far as I know

This is how i find out the show is canceled 😢😢
